• du And Dubai Media Incorporated Join Hands To Spread Social Responsibility Awareness In Ramadan

In the spirit of giving and joining hands in the Holy Month of Ramadan, du has signed a partnership agreement with Dubai Media Incorporated (DMI) to spread awareness amongst the UAE community of the different humanitarian initiatives that the company is undertaking. Through this partnership, du aims to spread the message of community giving, and the benefits that can be enjoyed by all through social solidarity at this special time of year.

Three of DMI’s TV channels will be involved in showcasing du’s community activities throughout the Holy Month: Noor Dubai, Sama Dubai, and Dubai TV.

DMI will produce a special documentary for the Holy Month of Ramadan, which will highlight the importance of social responsibility in the UAE. A special focus will be placed on du’s Iftar tables, that du is organising for the 7th consecutive year.

The documentary will highlight 25 Emirati ladies preparing the food that will be distributed at the company’s Iftar tables in three locations. These are: Nad Alqusaus Mosque in Dubai; Hissa Bin Zayed Mosque in Abu Dhabi, and Alfisht Mosque in Sharjah. du is sponsoring these ladies through the Khalifa Fund’s Iftar Sa’em project.

Ali Khalifa Alrumaithy, General Manager, Dubai TV said: “As part of our social responsibility we are partnering with du to highlight the differing humanitarian and charitable activities in the UAE, especially those initiated by du to support society during Ramadan. This is a time when we should remember those around us and give generously to make their Ramadan experience comfortable and memorable.”

Hala Badri, Executive Vice President, Brand and Communications, du, said: “Our focus this Ramadan is on the concept of sharing and social solidarity by giving back to the community, in collaboration with our customers and different corporations partners in the UAE. We are encouraging the people of the UAE to give generously to one another during the Holy Month. We would like to thank DMI for joining us in our initiatives, and for allowing us to spread our message to the wider UAE community.”

In addition to hours volunteered by du’s staff, Think Up GCC’s volunteers and the wide community, funding for the initiative will come from du’s Emirati Plan subscriptions, of which 5% of monthly fee is dedicated to sustainability efforts. Since its launch in 2011, Emirati Plan customers have contributed to numerous causes, including donating AED700,000 to du’s ‘Feekom Al Khair w Al Barakah’ (‘with your goodness and blessings’) home renovation campaign.

In 2013, 282 volunteers participated in du’s Mawaed Al Rahman initiative, dedicating 1,295 hours to distribute 130.000 meals to the UAE community. All members of UAE society are invited to participate in meal distribution at du’s Iftar tables locations, and can contact volunteers@thinkup.ae for more information.
