• Dubai Film And TV Commission (DFTC) Is Improving Its Permit Application And Approval Process For Filmmakers

Dubai Film and TV Commission (DFTC) today are pleased to announce that phase one of their automated script clearance and film permitting system has launched. The new streamlined system is in line with DFTC’s mandate to make filming in Dubai easier and to grow the emirate’s media production industry.

The system will provide local production companies with the ability to submit, track and pay for permits online, eliminating the need for in-person visits; whilst location owners will be able to review and approve detailed requests at the click of a button.

In addition, local production companies and location owners will be able to track the status of active requests, track history of previous requests, and save and retrieve filming permit requests

In phase two, we will see added features and benefits to the system, such as a location gallery, which will improve and enhance the experience users and allow the filming process to run smoothly and a whole lot easier.

Jamal Al Sharif, Chairman of Dubai Film and TV Commission, commented: “We currently process over 1,000 permit applications per year, and expect that number to rise with our concerted efforts to promote Dubai as a production destination. The automated portal is key to improving our efficiency and streamlining the processes that facilitate Dubai's growth as a regional and international media production hub. With many popular shoots having recently been filmed here such as the infamous Masterchef Arabia, The Bold and the Beautiful and Welcome Back – the sequel to Bollywood blockbuster Welcome - Dubai’s film and TV industry is going from strength to strength.”

DFTC was created in May 2012 to promote Dubai as a shooting and production location to the film and television industries locally, regionally and internationally. It is also the sole entity authorized to issue shooting permits for the limitless exciting locations that Dubai has to offer, whether private or public.

Asset Technology Group has been appointed to automate the new user-friendly system. Asset is a provider of world-class content management services to government entities across the Middle East and will operate the automated DFTC system through its Dubai business, Asset Gulf.
