• Abu Dhabi's Second Global Aerospace Summit To Be Held On April 7th

    The Global Aerospace Summit 2014 will run from 7th to 8th April 2014 at the St. Regis Hotel, Saadiyat Island, Abu Dhabi, under the patronage of His Highness General Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the U.A.E. Armed Forces.

    Hosted by Mubadala Development Company and organised by Streamline Marketing Group, the event is an invitation-only strategic forum for senior international industry leaders in aviation, aerospace, defence and space. The Summit this April will attract 1,000 C-level executives from across the world to the UAE capital, making it one of the most important industry forums in 2014. Participants will discuss and debate topics critical to the growth of aviation, aerospace, defence and space sectors including partnerships, globalization and liberalization of the aviation market, sustainability, innovation, and environmental risks.

    This year's Summit will be opened with a welcome address by H.E. Saif Al Suwaidi, Director General of the UAE General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA). Keynote speakers include James Hogan, Group President and Chief Executive Officer, Etihad Airways; H.E Saif Mohammed Al-Hajri, Chief Executive Officer, Offset Program at Tawazun; Homaid Al Shemmari, Tony Tyler, Director General and CEO of International Air Transport Association (IATA) and Tony Douglas, Chief Executive Officer, Abu Dhabi Airports Company (ADAC).

    A large number of internationally renowned speakers covering the spectrum of the wide industries covered by the Summit are also confirmed as speakers. Those include Marillyn Hewson, President and Chief Executive Officer of Lockheed Martin; Camiel Eurlings, President and Chief Executive Officer of KLM; Jean-Bernard Levy, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Thales; Douglas Raaberg, Chief Executive Officer of Northrop Grumman; legendary Space Statesman Buzz Aldrin and many other prominent speakers.

    As part of the Summit, a series of sessions called the ?Global Aerospace Ambassadors' will focus on strategies for encouraging youth to consider careers in the aerospace, aviation, defense and space industries.

    Sara Al Shorouqi, Associate Director of Aerospace and Engineering Services at Mubadala and Global Aerospace Summit Advisory Board Member said, "The role of the Summit's Advisory Board is to consider key challenges facing the industry today and shape an agenda that will encourage dialogue and compel participants to find relevant solutions. A major element of this year's Summit will be the Global Aerospace Ambassadors sessions that aim to inspire youth to study science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) subjects, which are vital to the growth and diversification of the UAE's aerospace and space industries." The Global Aerospace Summit will be preceded by the CEO Workforce Summit on April 6th, which will gather CEOs from various sectors to examine the critical issue of finding talent to secure the future of their industries. Also on 6 April, the Abu Dhabi Suppliers Forum will be held to examine the role of aerospace, aviation, defense and space in the industrialization of the Abu Dhabi economy.

    The inaugural Summit in 2012 attracted more than 900 C-suite executives from 52 countries. The 2014 event will also include delegates from emerging markets such as Russia, China, India, Eastern Europe and South America.
