• ADP Launches Airport Security Screening Systems Certification

    The Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters launched the Security Screening Systems Certification for the Security Inspection Police, currently implemented across Abu Dhabi airports. The launching recently took place at the Decision-making Support Center’s theatre hall at the Police Departments Complex in Abu Dhabi, during the ceremony held to celebrate the graduation of licensed inspectors.

    The ceremony was held under the patronage of Major General Staff Dr. Obeid Al Hiri Salim Al Kutbi, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Abu Dhabi Police. Present at the ceremony were Major General Khalil DawoodBadran, Director General of Finance and Services; Major General Mohammed bin Al Awadhi Al Menhali, Director General of Human Resources; Brigadier General Dr. Saif Bu Dhufaira Al Ameri, Director General of Security and Ports Affairs; and Colonel KhamisMusbah Al Marar, Head of the Ports and Airports Security Department at the Abu Dhabi Police; along with heads of departments at Abu Dhabi Police GHQ; senior officers and graduates.

    The ceremony was also attended by Mohammed Khalifa Al Muhairi, Director General of the Customs Department in Abu Dhabi; Jassem Mohammed Al Zaabi, Director General of the Authority for the Security of Ports, Borders and Free Zones; and Hamad Salem Al Muhairi, Director of Aviation at the General Authority of Civil Aviation.

    Major General Al Kutbi indicated that the graduates have received intensive scientific and practical knowledge and applications aimed at qualifying them to conduct detection and inspection processes with high efficiency, as per the latest international systems. “This would boost the quality of services and develop police performance, so as to achieve the Abu Dhabi Police’s vision to ensure that the Emirate of Abu Dhabi continues to enjoy security and safety, and to provide high quality police services to citizens, residents, and visitors of the emirate,” stressed Major General Al Kutbi.

    Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Abu Dhabi Police added that this batch of inspectors would be instrumental in ports security, as they would detect any violations to the security and stability of our society, and curtail threats and crimes. “The quality service is only achieved through the optimal use of human resources, intensifying modern training programs, and improving the performance of police officers by honing their teamwork abilities and skills,” concluded Major General Al Kutbi.

    Following the ceremony organized by the Ports and Airports Security Police Department, the Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Abu Dhabi Police distributed certificates and licenses to the high-profile group of licensed inspectors, who successfully passed the necessary conditions and requirements of the system.

    For his part, Colonel KhamisMusbah Al Marar, Head of the Ports and Airports Security Police Department stressed that the “Security Screening Systems Certification” is a strategic breakthrough for police work in airports security. “It complements the quality and security performance development standards and criteria applied in the Abu Dhabi Police’s strategic plans, in accordance with the civil aviation and airports security quality standards, issued by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO),” indicated Colonel Al Marar.

    Furthermore, Colonel Al Marar also noted that the system complies with the conditions and specifications stipulated in the Security Screening Systems Certification’s National Program. “The training program model adopted by ICAO was carried out using the computer simulation training system (CBT) for detection, inspection and practical training, as well as x-ray and advanced electromagnetic technology equipment,” explained Colonel Al Marar.

    In conclusion, Head of the Ports and Airports Security Police Department pointed out that the Airports and Ports Security Institute at the Ports and Airports Security Police Department at Abu Dhabi Police was granted the authority to issue security screening license cards for airports security personnel, by virtue of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between Abu Dhabi Police GHQ and the UAE General Civil Aviation Authority. According to the MoU, the institute shall comply fully with the international and national requirements stipulated by the approved programs and regulations for civil aviation security.
