• Expo Centre Sharjah App-Grades Its Services

    The country’s first established exhibition centre, Expo Centre Sharjah, has launched is bilingual multi-platform mobile application which is free to download, offering real-time show alerts and interactive floor maps among a host of other key features.

    The app, available on both Android and Apple operating platforms, will provide full details of all B2B and B2C events at Expo Centre Sharjah (ECS) in both English and Arabic to its users.

    It was launched by Mr. Ahmed Mohammed Al Midfa, Chairman, Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, on Monday (February 3), in the presence of Mr. Saif Mohammed Al Midfa, CEO, Expo Centre Sharjah, and other SCCI and ECS officials.

    “Mobile apps offer a new platform of engagement with customers. With the launch of the app, Expo Centre is now always connected with exhibitors, visitors as well as service providers, creating added value to all parties involved,” said Mr. Ahmed Mohammed Al Midfa, adding that the new app will offer all latest information about Expo Centre, its shows and other activities on finger tips.

    The app will be an access point for information such as ECS events calendar, brochures, registration forms, floor plans, press releases, photo & video gallery, location info, special attractions, concurrent events, online registration option, notifications, newsletters and contact details.

    “The app will be compatible with all Android and Apple mobile operating systems, will load fast, and integrate social media access, apart from an easy-to-navigate interface,” he added.

    Additionally, the app has information about ECS history, facilities & services, Sharjah city and its main attractions and travel, hotel & visa information. Besides, the app will help ECS enhance brand awareness, increase visibility and booth traffic, easily collect leads and contact information, and improve coordination with exhibitors and visitors.

    “Smartphones are reshaping the way businesses interact with clients. Our exhibitors and attendees are increasingly going mobile, so the mobile app will help us successfully leverage on the high smartphone penetration in the region to enhance participation and visitor experience,” said Mr. Saif Mohammed Al Midfa.

    Smartphone use in the Middle East and Africa will nearly double this year to 112.2 million, up from 67 million last year, according to eMarketer’s latest Global Media Intelligence Report.

    According to a Google report, smartphone penetration in the GCC is among the highest in the world, with users turning to their phones for everyday actions such as ‘search’ with 42 per cent of all searches conducted in the GCC on smartphones; registering a 110 per cent increase between 2012 and 2013
