    HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) announced that the 16th Water, Energy, Technology, and Environment Exhibition (WETEX 2014), held under the directive of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, Ruler of Dubai, and under the patronage of HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Minister of Finance, and President of DEWA, from 14 to 16 April at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre (DICEC), has grown in stature as one of the elite specialised exhibitions in water, energy, environment and oil & gas sectors.

    WETEX 2014 will coincide with the “World Green Economy Summit”, which will be held in Dubai in collaboration with Dubai Green Economy Partnership under the theme “Global Partnerships, Sustainable Future”. Prominent experts from energy, finance and business sectors along with government officials and leaders from global organisations will take part in it.

    HE Al Tayer said: “Organising this exhibition is in line with the UAE strategy on green sustainability and the initiative of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, Ruler of Dubai, "Green Economy for Sustainable Development” which strives to establish the UAE as a world leader in green economy and a centre for export and re-export of green products and technologies.

    HE Al Tayer added that the exhibition, which is organised by DEWA under the umbrella of Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, under the theme ‘At the forefront of sustainability’ recognises enormous achievements of the UAE and encourages and enhances collaboration, innovation and creativity , and these are factors that formed the base of Dubai’s bid for Expo 2020. 

    He added: “The exhibition also sets knowledge economy as one of the primary success factors in achieving the vision of our wise leadership to transform Dubai into a smart city.”

    HE Al Tayer said the WETEX team at DEWA toured several countries like Turkey, Italy, France, UK, USA, Russia, Poland and South Africa. The team received many requests from organsations and companies who are keen to participate in the exhibition to boost their businesses in the MENA region.

    HE Al Tayer said: “With every edition, WETEX consolidates its position as the ideal platform to strengthen partnerships in MENA region, by providing the perfect environment for sponsors and participants to showcase their latest products and solutions in the areas of energy, water and environment, oil and gas and other relevant sectors.”

    To date, seven strategic sponsors, eight platinum sponsors and 13 gold sponsors have confirmed support, with the total number of sponsors reaching 28 and expected to increase further.

    The 16th edition of WETEX will be the largest to date, spread over an area of 47,230 sq.m in 9 halls of the Dubai International Convention & Exhibition Centre, an increase of nearly 23% compared to last year’s edition.

    The exhibition will highlight, over three days, important issues related to the rapid developments and challenges in fields of electricity, water and the environment, oil and gas as well as best solutions and practices to address environmental challenges.

    WETEX also focuses on a variety of activities related to the consumption of water, energy, and environment conservation, waste management, green buildings, in addition to the latest cutting-edge solutions like greenhouses that contribute to the reduction of carbon dioxide.

    WETEX 2014 provides an ideal business platform where it focuses on displaying advanced technologies pertaining to water, energy and environment. It is a meeting to specialized experts and solutions providers and investors as well as decision makers and consumers from public and private sector.
