• ENOC Highlights Its CSR Commitment With 35 Employees Taking Part In 'Clean Up Arabia'

From the sandy beaches of Fujairah to the depths of the Arabian Sea off Abu Dhabi, staff members of the Emirates National Oil Company (ENOC) were actively involved in cleaning up the environment as part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) commitment to promote sustainable development and a cleaner and greener environment.

More than 35 employees of ENOC took part in the ‘Clean Up Arabia’ campaign organised by Emirates Diving Association (EDA), and supported by the Environment Agency - Abu Dhabi (EAD) and Dibba Municipality.

Nader Al Fardan, Senior Manager, Industrial Products Marketing of ENOC, said: “Our aim and role with the ‘Clean Up Arabia Campaign has been to bring about awareness and focus to help conserve the environment because environmental pollution causes damage on a global scale. This is one of the key issues that impacts the quality of life on our planet and should concern all humanity world-wide. We are therefore committed to the UAE’s Leadership’s efforts to protect and preserve the shorelines of our beloved country and it’s marine life, for today’s generation as well as future generations to come.

Basma Essa, Senior Manager, Brands & Corporate Communication of ENOC, added: “The active participation by our staff members in the environment clean-up activities both on land and under water highlights the organisation-wide interest and enthusiasm to make a difference to the community. As the UAE strives to be among the best nations in the world by 2021, we will continue to support the leadership’s vision to promote a greener environment and to introduce green initiatives that will help promote energy sector efficiencies.”

Essa Al Ghurair, Vice Chairman - Emirates Diving Association, said: “The annual ‘Clean Up Arabia’ is an ideal opportunity to spread awareness concerning our marine environment. Through the campaign, we are urging residents across the region to take action and keep beaches and dive sites clear of marine debris for the sake of our future generation. Involving volunteers from the local community, including organisations such as ENOC, allows them to make a positive environmental impact in their marine environment and to preserve the region’s diverse marine life.”

Through the support to ‘Clean Up Arabia,’ ENOC was reiterating the importance of keeping our land and sea clean, as environmental degradation and pollution will not only affect human beings and marine creatures but also lead to heavy costs on businesses and overall development.

ENOC’s team members were active collecting waste materials onshore and offshore. Debris included hundreds of yards of fishing nets, plastic, and paper through its campaign in Dibba Al Fujairah. In Abu Dhabi, the team supported the divers in collecting marine debris by the coast and in the water.

CSR is one of the core commitments of ENOC, and over the years, the company has been actively involved in a wide variety of activities that bring about positive change. In addition to supporting environmental campaigns, ENOC also undertakes educational and charity initiatives that touch people’s lives.
