• UAE Government Encourages Abu Dhabi's Participation In Best m-Government Service Award

    The UAE Government recently held an introductory workshop to encourage Abu Dhabi government entities to participate in the ‘Best M-Government Service Award’ under the Local Level category. The Award was launched earlier this year as an extension ofthe UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s Mobile Government vision for government agencies to provide innovative solutions in the field of smartphone apps, mobiles websites and SMS.

    Organised by Abu Dhabi’s General Secretariat of the Executive Council and Abu Dhabi System and Information Centre (ADSIC), the workshop was conducted by representatives of the Prime Minister’s Office. The workshop was attended by representatives of all Abu Dhabi government departments.ADSIC is the government entity in charge of Abu Dhabi’s ICT agenda.

    During the workshop, H.E. Rashed Lahej Al Mansoori, Director General of ADSIC, expressed his gratitude and appreciation to H.H Sheikh Mohammed on the launch of this initiative which seeks to stimulate federal as well as local government entities to innovate and creatively provide government services on smart phones. He highlighted ADSIC’s keenness to adopt Sheikh Mohammed’s visionand turn it into reality.

    The Best m-Government Service has the following categories:

    • Best m-Government Service Award on the Federal Level.
    • Best m-Government Service Award on the Local Level.
    • Best m-Government Service Award on the Arab Level.
    • Best m-Government Service Award on the Global Level.
    • Best m-Government Service Award for Students from Universities in the UAE

    Assessment criteria of the Best m-Government Service Award include ‘efficiency and effectiveness.’ This criterion focuses on the efficiency in terms of improving the service productivity such as reducing the time and effort and cost associated with the delivery of the service as well as the effectiveness of the m-application/solution and ability to solve a problem that deals with Public Service with high level of impact on society.

    The new award also seeks to ensure access to government services around the clock that are easy, efficient and transparent to meet the public needs.

    Submission will open on 8th December and will close on the 12th December, 2013. Winners of the awards will be honoured in a special awards ceremony at the second edition of the Government Summit, due to be held in Dubai, on 10-12th February 2014. Applications for the category of Best m-Government Service on the Local Level will only be accepted when made through the Executive Council of Abu Dhabi.
