Delegation from Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority meets the Health Education and Communications Department

A delegation from Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (TDA) has visited the Health Education and Communications Department in the Ras Al Khaimah Medical District to discuss opportunities for collaboration and the role of the tourism and hospitality sector in promoting health and wellness.

Ras Al Khaimah TDA has collaborated with the Health Education Department, RAK Medical District, for the past two years to arrange a popular activity day for children to learn about health eating and cooking for diabetes from the Emirate’s top hotel chefs as part of the annual Al Basma Camp for Diabetic Children. During the delegation meeting, plans were put in place to build on the success of Al Basma Camp in 2014 and to collaborate further around international events such as World No Smoking day and World Health Day. The delegation also discussed medical education and training sessions for employees in Ras Al Khaimah’s hospitality sector and blood donation campaigns in hotels for employees, guests as well as Ras Al Khaimah residents.

Attending the delegation from Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority was Mohamed Loojab, Manager, Administrative Licenses and Permits and Nermin Abushnaf, Director of Public Relations & Marketing. They were joined by Ms. Mohra Mohammed Bin Seray, Head of Health Education & Communications Department and Ms. Noha Ibrahim Al Jak, Public Health Specialist at the Health Education & Communications Department – RAK Medical District.

Mr. Loojab of Ras Al Khaimah TDA commented: “As part of our mandate Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority supports the Emirate’s hotels in various Corporate Social Responsibilities (CSR) activities to promote health and wellness throughout the year. We are privileged in Ras Al Khiamah that our hotel General Managers understand how their hotels can make a difference within their local communities and are keen to work together on CSR activities for the greater good. This delegation has generated many good ideas and plans for future health campaigns in Ras Al Khaimah.”

Ms. Mohra Mohammed Bin Seray, Head of Health Education & Communications Department, RAK Medical District, added: “This delegation recognised the power that the hotel and hospitality industry has to encourage greater health awareness across Ras Al Khaimah. We are looking forward to collaborating more closely with the Emirate’s tourism sector as a result of this delegation.”
