• DIFC Hosts March Installment Of Art Nights Series On Monday 18 March

Final Art Nights installment for the season to coincide with the lead-up to Art Dubai

As part of a series of activities leading up to the Art Dubai 2013 – the international art fair of the MEASA region – the galleries at Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) will host this month’s installment of Art Nights @ Gate Village from 7pm to 10pm on Monday, 18 March, 2013.

Now established as of Dubai’s key cultural events, this year’s third edition of Art Nights seeks to reaffirm DIFC’s role in promoting the region’s vibrant art and culture scene. The event has grown in popularity and esteem throughout the last two years, attracting everyone from art collectors and finance professionals, to young creatives and families.

The upcoming Art Nights event will present a wide variety of activities including exhibition openings, live art, talks, a film screening, and musical entertainment.

In addition to several exhibitions by the growing number of art galleries in DIFC’s Gate Village, Art Nights will also feature an innovative show called ‘Tectonic’ by The Moving Museum, which will showcase the work of 24 international contemporary artists including Jeremy Deller, Ryan Gander, Eddie Peake and Haroon Mirza.

The Hamdan International Photography Award (HIPA), an internationally renowned photography award launched under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, will display nominations from the ‘Black & White’ category.

Christie’s will present an exclusive selection of cutting-edge photographic works by established and emerging artists from the Modern and Contemporary Arab, Iranian and Turkish Art sales at Art Nights @ Gate Village, ahead of their upcoming auctions on April 16th and 17th.

In association with Institut Français, the French Embassy and Brownbook Magazine, Art Nights will also host an exclusive screening of the multi-award winning film ‘The Artist’, courtesy of Teleview International and powered by the Khaleeji-French Film & TV Office.

The evening will be complimented with music from a unique collaboration by Break DJ Lobito & the Deep Crates Cartel, and a special performance by Japanese duo Nanaco Art, courtesy of The Magazine Shop.

The event will also feature a life-size interactive sculpture installation by Dubai-based, Romanian sculptor Toma Gabor and curated by The Domino. Guests will have the opportunity to participate in an experimental piece that comments on art, and specifically in reference to monuments.

In addition, Dubai Drums will present a drum circle at Art Night’s for an exciting and interactive musical experience.
Guests are invited to enjoy complimentary canapés and drinks provided by The Ritz-Carlton, DIFC and experience exclusively designed furniture by Catertainment.

Once Art Nights draws to a close, visitors can continue the evening at the official after-party, Art
