• Emaar Honours Winners Of 5th Emirates Classic Car Festival

    5th edition extended until March 11, 2013 due to public demand

    Spectators and classic car aficionados gathered on the Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard to celebrate the winners of the 5th Emirates Classic Car Festival, the annual event organised by Emaar Properties in association with the UAE Ministry of Culture, Youth & Community Development; and the Automobile & Touring Club of the United Arab Emirates (ATCUAE).

    Owners of 17 classic cars and motorbikes were presented awards, from a line-up of 212 vehicles and 9 motorcycles, marking the Festival’s largest showcase to date. Renowned personalities associated with the Festival including representatives from The Ministry of Culture, Youth & Community Development, Mohammed Ben Sulayem, President of ATCUAE, and key management from Emaar, announced the winners.

    In line with the overwhelming response received from audiences over the extravagant showcase of cars this year, the organising committee has extended the Emirates Classic Car Festival to run until March 11, 2013.

    The winners of the competitions including a public poll were awarded at the closing ceremony of the Festival. Experts and professionals from the automobile industry evaluated the cars based on various aspects including upkeep, value, originality and uniqueness, finishes, and visual aesthetics.

    Winners for their cars in various categories in are: His Highness Sheikh Sultan Bin Khalifa Al Nahyan for his Mercedes 220 SE (The UAE Award); His Highness Sheikh Hasher Bin Maktoum Al Maktoum for his Suzuki (The Dubai Award); Imtiaz Shaikh for his Aston Martin DB 5 (Best of Show); Khalifa Al Shamsi for his Mercedes Benz Pagoda 280 SL (The Emaar Award); Abdul Rahman Saleh Al Genas for his F100 Ford (Classic Truck Award); Peter Dew for his Rolls Royce Phantom 2 (Pre-World War II Award); Alexander Islamov for his Dodge 1917 (Heritage Car); David Chambers for his Camaro (Modern Classic); Nikhil Kilachand for his Mustang (American Car Award); Tariq Al Qamzi for his Mercedes Benz 300 SEL (European Car Award); Hayder Hani for his Bentley 1958 S1 (British Car Award); Rafic Mahmoud for his Corvette (Club Merit Award); His Excellency Dr. Mohammed Bin Sulayem for his 1920 Bentley (First People’s Choice ); Shabab Attrazadeh for his Mercury 1950 (Second People’s Choice ); Johnny Nielsen for his Fiat 500 Giannini (Micro Car); Ali Al Shaafar for his Dodge Powerwagon Pickup (Custom Truck); and Alexander Islamov for his BMW Side Car (Classic Motorcyle).
