Award Winning Maya - Modern Mexican Kitchen + Lounge Brings Mexican Flair Back To Dubai

  As guests and diners waited with baited breath, Le Royal Meridien Beach Resort + Spa opened its doors to the newly renovated Maya – Modern Mexican Kitchen + Lounge this month. Set on the beaches of the award-winning resort, the restaurant offers a modern twist on popular Mexican classics as only the famed Chef Richard Sandoval can deliver.

Having recently been fully revamped to compliment the look and feel of Maya New York and usher in a new multi-dining and lounging experiences for the many guests who visit Maya – Modern Mexican Kitchen + Lounge, the newest features build upon the strengths that made the restaurant a popular destination for UAE residents and visitors alike.

Guests are welcomed into the two-story restaurant and lounge, where warm terracotta hues add vibrancy to a space already pulsating with Mexican flavour. Elegant, Aztec-style art lines the walls, surrounding a warm and inviting dining area. Outside the restaurant a bridged pond leads to a large wraparound terrace with its own bar area. Here guests may dine in cooler evenings in a captivating location and enjoy the breeze from the shimmering Arabian Gulf just a few steps away. Surrounding the entire complex is an elegant Mexican-style garden.

Delving deeper into the restaurant, visitors can also enjoy an exclusive Tequila Room called the Tequileria, which houses 60 labels of tequila and allows guests and diners to enjoy the very best agave products sourced from around the world exclusively for the restaurant. The Tequileria will also be available for private dining and tequila tasting sessions. The Tequileria is the largest of its kind in the UAE, with some labels imported specifically for Maya.

Perched on the top of the restaurant is the much-anticipated new lounge, a signature element that will delight each visitor to the restaurant with its beautiful views and unique ambience. A serene waterfall greets those who decide to enjoy the outdoor seating area, which overlooks the hotel’s lush beach. The vast lounge centres around a world-class bar, where guests can enjoy a whole host of signature drinks, such as the Maya Margarita, as they catch the cool sea breeze and enjoy the rhythms of DJ Heice – a native of Mexico and a renowned DJ in the electro-Latin scene. The lounge also boasts comfortable indoor seating, where guests can enjoy with the finest cigars of Latin America.

Complementing the beach-front hacienda is a new menu sure to entice any lover of Mexican cuisine. For starters, guests can take a dip in the Queso Fundido – a unique twist on the classic cheese fondue, as guests dip warm tortillas in a pot of melted duo cheese and fresh mushrooms. The sharp, rich flavours are sure to whet the appetite in anticipation for the main course. Guests can continue their culinary journey with the Roasted Chicken Cazuela, a traditional Mexican braise with warm tortillas, Mexican-style rice and a generous serving of mole poblano – a traditional, savoury sauce unique to Mexico. To top the meal off, guests can indulge in the enchanting bomba de chocolate, a bitter-sweet chocolate mousse, accentuated with caramelized walnuts and topped off with sweet coconut biscuits.
