• ENOC Highlights Best Practices In Business Ethics

Recognises employees for their contribution to business ethics and compliance

In line with ENOC’s Business Ethics & Compliance initiative, ‘The Way We Lead’

Emirates National Oil Company (ENOC) has underlined its commitment to best practices in business ethics by recognising employees who have contributed to its Business Ethics & Compliance (BE&C) activities in 2012.

Organised by the company’s Internal Audit and Business Ethics Department, the Recognition Ceremony highlighted the organisation’s core values, and commitment to the Code of Business Conduct and BE&C activities.

The ceremony, held at ENOC House, was attended by Chairman Audit Committee H.E. Mirza Al Sayegh, members of ENOC Board of Directors’ Audit Committee, ENOC Executive Management Committee and employees from across the Group. It also aimed at further encouraging co-operation of all employees with the functions of BE&C, and to create a culture of appreciation and recognition of business ethics among the workforce.

Saeed Al Khoory, ENOC’s Chief Executive Officer, said: “Adhering to the highest standards of business ethics and compliance is of utmost importance in today’s fast-evolving market environment. ENOC has always committed itself to its core values, and our commitment to the ENOC Code of Business Conduct is in fact ‘The Way We Lead.’”

He added: “We have achieved several milestones in this regard last year. We are committed to setting benchmarks in upholding our business ethics and compliance commitment, with our Code of Conduct being introduced across all our operations globally.”

ENOC places utmost emphasis on business ethics and compliance, and has set several standards, policies and procedures in place, including the introduction of the Ethic Enquiry process. The company follows an open-door approach, giving access to every employee to clarify any questions relating to the company’s ethical practices. The Business Ethics & Compliance Program include: Standards, Policies and Procedures; Programme Administration; Communications, Education & Training; and Internal Monitoring Systems, among others.

The recognition ceremony included four categories: Professional Appreciation for 2012 Ethics Council members; Professional Recognition and announcement of 2013 selected Ethics Council; Best Suggestion on Business Ethics Survey and honouring employees who have supported in Case Management.

ENOC had conducted a Business Ethics Survey and invited suggestions from employees to measure the effectiveness of ethical monitoring and reporting process as well as evaluate the level of employee understanding and practice of the Code in their day to day business life. The BE&C Survey reflected a high level of awareness and satisfaction, recording a growth of 9 percent from 74 to 82.

ENOC’s BE&C Function works to expand the scope of the Code of Business Conduct across all partners, joint ventures, vendors and other stakeholders of the organisation. A formal Code of Business Conduct was launched in 2010, followed by the constitution of the Business Ethics Committee to sustain a transparent and ethical work environment. Last year, BE&C marked several significant milestones including the launch of its brand new image and revamped portal as well as the implementation of Business Ethics across global operations.
