• Al-Futtaim Motors Launches Road Safety Awareness Programme For UAE Youth

Emirati Drift King Ahmed Al Ameri shares safety standards with 40 childre

As a part of Al-Futtaim Motors’ on-going efforts to raise road safety awareness among the youth of the UAE, Toyota hosted 40 Japanese students at its 3S Al Badia facility in Dubai Festival City for a road safety presentation.

Besides touring the facility to understand Toyota car maintenance procedures, the visit included a safety presentation by Ahmed Al Ameri, UAE Drift King and Toyota 86 brand ambassador, who explained the importance of safety measures to be taken when behind the wheel.

Commenting on the visit, Simon Frith Managing Director Al-Futtaim Motors said: “As the leading automotive distributor in the UAE, we believe it is our responsibility to raise road safety awareness within the community, especially among the youth. Children are the leaders of tomorrow and it is very important to inculcate to them the principles that will help them lead a responsible life and set the example for safe driving behaviour in this country.”

Ahmed Al Ameri, lead driver of the Toyota Emirates Drifting Team, presented the various safety measures and equipment he uses in preparation for his races.

“It might be slightly complicated for the kids to understand the technical modification I did on the car for safety, however, seeing the roll-cage for themselves and hearing me explaining about the necessity of buckling up, wearing the helmet and the fireproof suit was enough for them to understand that racing is a sport and that it has to be performed by professionals, in a contained and safe environment and within certain rules and regulations. We made it clear to them that reckless drivers they often see on streets are irresponsible drivers who put everybody’s lives in danger.”

The students were also encouraged to go on a 4x4 outdoor rig to explore the excitement of off-roading in a Toyota Land cruiser alongside an off-road expert from Al-Futtaim Motors driving team.

This is the first in a series of similar activities that Al-Futtaim Motors, in partnership with Ahmed Al Ameri, will be rolling out in the next two years across various schools, universities and youth communities to help reinforce road safety and responsible driving messages.
