• March Excitement In Store For Visitors To Dubai

    Showpiece event of month is Dubai World Cup on 30th March

    Dubai is gearing up to roll out the red carpet to visitors from around the world by making March its best month yet with a long line-up of activities and events that will be the perfect way to celebrate the monthly citywide celebrations under the slogan March happens here!

    As it’s always celebration time in Dubai, visitors will be spoilt for choice in terms of entertainment with Dubai Calendar, the official listing of events in the emirate that is developed and managed by Dubai Events and Promotions Establishment, an agency of the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing, putting together a line-up of 13 featured events for March, in addition to the numerous other activities that will take place across the city.

    The Dubai World Cup, the world’s richest horse race on 30 March, proves beyond doubt that the emirate is a hub for international sporting events. The World Cup will give Dubai’s horse racing season a fitting finale with horse racing enthusiasts getting the opportunity to see the world’s best jockeys saddling up to vie for the top title in horse racing history. Besides, they can also enjoy all the glitz and glamour that comes with an event of this stature. A fabulous treat awaits polo fans at the on-going Dubai Polo Gold Cup, featuring the world’s best polo teams and players. This premier polo competition concludes on 15 March.

    Dubai’s world famous entertainment circuit will come alive once again with a show by Egyptian pop star Mohamed Mounir on 15 March, followed by a performance on 21 March by Spanish superstar, Julio Iglesias. And, if you are a Bollywood fan, head off to the Mirchi Bollywood Rocks event on 8 March to watch performances by Sunidhi Chauhan and Shankar Ehsaan Loy, for the very first time in Dubai.

    That arts and culture happens in Dubai is evident by the prestigious Emirates Airline Festival of Literature from 5-9 March, which is the Middle East’s largest celebration of the written and spoken word, bringing people of all ages and backgrounds together with authors from across the world. For lovers of art three unique art events will come under the umbrella of the popular Art Week from 14-24 March while visitors can also savour world-class theatre including the legendary musical Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat from 29 March to 13 April.

    Lifestyle happens in Dubai with the Dubai International Boat Show from 5-9 March, Taste of Dubai, the annual restaurant, food and drink festival from 14-16 March and the Twins Plus Festival on 22 March , the only event of its kind in the region that brings together twins, triplets and more from across the region.

    The Gulf Photo Plus 2013 exhibition from 1-8 March is the region’s biggest and only photography festival, while another community event slated for March is the Kids Fest event catering to children of all ages from 8-9 March.
