Everything’s All White For UAE Childhood Cancer Survivors At Ski Dubai!

Nine young UAE residents enjoyed a fun day out in the snow at Ski Dubai courtesy of Majid Al Futtaim Group and the organisers of this year’s Oil Barons Charity Ball, dmg::events.
Boys and girls supported by the Friends of Cancer Patients Charitable Organization (FOCP) had the run of one of Dubai’s best loved leisure resorts on February 1, meeting the resident penguins, swishing about on bobsleds and clambering up the snowy slopes inside an inflatable plastic ball (apparently, they’re called OGOs!).
The annual Oil Barons Charity Ball has raised an incredible AED2.4 million for the FOCP at its last four events, and dmg::events is hoping to raise the bar even higher with a host of prizes to be raffled off in aid of a great cause at Meydan Racecourse on March 8.
The ball is the largest single corporate donor to the FOCP, a charitable, volunteered-based organisation established in 1999.working all over UAE to help cancer patients and promote awareness about the disease, its prevention and early detection.
“We’ve been helping to arrange outings for the children under the care of the Friends of Cancer Patients Charitable Organization every year since 2009 but this is the first time we’ve had the chance to come to Ski Dubai,” said Simon Mellor, Senior Vice President at dmg::events. “Everyone had a memorable day out – and the parents had as much fun as the kids!”
“It was a great way to enjoy the weekend and also to raise awareness for World Cancer Day, on February 4,” said Mellor. “Now we’re looking forward to a fantastic turnout on March 8, so we can make a much bigger contribution to the inspiring work of Friends of Cancer Patients in the UAE.”
Held under the patronage of His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the Oil Barons Charity Ball will host over 2,000 VIP guests under the stars at Meydan Racecourse next month.
The last ball in 2011 collected more than AED1 million for the FOCP, which provides much needed medical, financial and moral support to cancer patients in the UAE
