• Dubai Shopping Festival 2013 Makes Final Bow Today

18th edition of international shopping and entertainment extravaganza featured non-stop celebrations for 32 days

Millions of residents and visitors from around the world are set to carry home wonderful memories of Dubai and its retail magic, the Dubai Shopping Festival, which concludes its 18th edition today (3rd February) after 32 days of offering the best in shopping, winning and entertainment.

Dubai Shopping Festival 2013 has lived up to its promise of staging the most exciting activities and offering the best shopping experience for the whole family, inspired by the theme “One World, One Family, One Festival”, while all along keeping true to its marketing slogan “Dubai at its Best”.

H.E. Laila Mohammed Suhail, CEO of Dubai Events and Promotions Establishment (DEPE), an agency of the Department of Economic Development, and the organiser of Dubai Shopping Festival, said: “Dubai Shopping Festival has once again come to a successful conclusion and has helped establish Dubai as one of the world’s best destinations for shopping and tourism. DSF has even contributed towards boosting domestic tourism as evident by the tens of thousands of Emiratis and expatriates who frequently visited the festival. DSF is one of many government-driven initiatives based on the vision of His Highness , Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE, and Ruler of Dubai that has helped put Dubai in the headlines across the world, and this is reflected by the fact that Dubai was crowned as the World Festival and Event City” for the second successive year by The International Festivals and Events Association.

She added: “The primary indications gathered from our stakeholders in the private and government sectors point out that DSF 2013 was nothing less than a unique achievement by all measures. We promised that DSF 2013 would make a difference, and we have delivered. For four consecutive weeks during the Festival, Dubai was one of the few cities in the world that was lively and vibrant. As the 18th edition of DSF comes to a close, we would like to emphasise that this would not have been successful without the long-standing and unflagging support of our partners in the private sector. This is ample proof of how different synergies could work in unison to successfully put together a monumental extravaganza such as the Dubai Shopping Festival year after year”.

Ibrahim Saleh, Festivals Coordinator General, DEPE, said: “Dubai Shopping Festival has transformed Dubai into one of the top shopping and tourism destinations with the events and festivities throughout the month of the Festival truly showcasing “Dubai at its Best”. DSF 2013 featured varied entertainment for the entire family – children’s events, fashion shows, street performers from around the world, daily fireworks, concerts, and numerous cultural events reflecting the emirate’s multi-cultural character. The festival encourages the government and private sectors to work closely together and it is this spirit of collaboration that has helped DEPE come up with innovative events, as well as the Mega Raffles to ensure that the DSF is a resounding success year after year”.

DEPE’s Strategic Partners of DEPE’s Events and Festival 2013 are: A.W.
