DAFZA & Airbus Bring Contemporary Art To Aircraft Manufacturing
Dubai Airport Freezone and Airbus Middle East hosted the exclusive Dubai viewing of award winning French artist, Tony Soulié, today (Sunday). DAFZA’s 7W building was transformed into a contemporary art gallery for the one-day only event.
Inspired by Aircrafts, Tony Soulié’s photo paintings display the encounter between the world of art, aeronautics and journeying showcasing the commoncality in anticipation, imagination, precision, quality, occasional work-around and above all, creativity. By combining striking photography with painting in brightly coloured inks, Tony Soulié brings scenes of industry to life in an original and unexpected way. The strong, vivid colours the artist uses have a powerful visual effect, grabbing one’s attention and stirring emotion.
Art students from Zayed University, Dubai Men’s College and Dubai Women’s College were also invited to spend the day being inspired by the collection, producing their own interpretation of art inspired by aviation. The finished paintings will be judged by xxx and the winner will join the regional tour of the Tony Soulie.
DAFZA Director General, Dr Mohammed Al Zarooni, said: "This event has provided us with the opportunity to share a different side of the industry with our tenants, colleagues and business partners. We are honoured to host the exclusive viewing of this collection at DAFZA and provide local students with the opportunity to add to the collection themselves. Thank you to Airbus for co-hosting this event with us, it has been a fantastic success."
Of the collection, Foaud Attar, managing director, Airbus Middle East, said: "There is something pure and timeless about industrial sites. The collection of photo-paintings, "Airbus seen through the eyes of Tony Soulié", conveys an expression of the passion, adventure and the international culture of Airbus. DAFZA has been an excellent host, and the perfect location for this collection viewing in Dubai."
The photo-paintings will also be exhibited at Airbus sites around the world over the next two years. Half of the paintings will be shared between Airbus sites, while the remaining half will be auctioned to raise funds for the Airbus Corporate Foundation. Consequently, Tony Soulié’s unique way of depicting Airbus’ modern industrial world can be enjoyed by many and become a source of inspiration for people touched by this blend of art and aviation.
Tony Soulié was born in 1955 in Paris.
