• Emaar Properties And ATCUAE Opens Registration For 5th Emirates Classic Car Festival

    The Emirates Classic Car Festival, organised by Emaar Properties in in association with the UAE Ministry of Culture, Youth & Community Development and the Automobile & Touring Club of the United Arab Emirates (ATCUAE), has opened registration for the fifth edition of the signature event.

    The Emirates Classic Car Festival will be held from March 7 to 9, 2013, at its home-venue, the spectacular 3.5km Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard, which overlooks Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building, and will showcase numerous classic cars and motorcycles underlining Downtown Dubai’s distinct position as ‘The Centre of Now.’

    Classic car and motorbike collectors and owners can register on the Festival’s website at www.emiratesclassiccarfestival.com or via email to eccf@emaarinfo.ae, with an image and description of their vehicle.

    Dr. Mohammed Ben Sulayem, President of ATCUAE, the official representative of the ’Fédération Internationale des Véhicules Anciens (FIVA), the world-wide authority for historic vehicles, said: “Over the past four editions, the Emirates Classic Car Festival has evolved significantly to present the diverse collections of cars and motorbikes by passionate collectors. The Festival throws light into the evolution of the automotive industry and the high aesthetics that have been an integral part of car design.”

    Abdullah Al Nuaimi, Director, Department of Coordination & Social Initiatives of the UAE Ministry of Culture, Youth & Community Development, said: “Through organising the classic cars festival, the Ministry is achieving several central goals that come within its 2011-2013 strategic plan to promote integration and coordination with public and private sectors.

    This includes building effective partnerships, and creating an integrated environment that derives its components from the principle of shared nationalism; as well as extending bridges of successful partnership among the various ministries, government, and private institutions."

    In 2011, a large array of classic cars and motorbikes competed in 14 categories including a Public Choice Award voted for by the visitors. Eminent classic car experts scored the cars on the basis of car originality, engine cleanliness, original car colour, historical car value, finishing and aesthetics.

    Downtown Dubai, which hosted over 60 million visitors to become the world’s most visited destination, anchored by Burj Khalifa, is one of the most prestigious lifestyle communities that features The Dubai Mall, the world’s largest shopping and entertainment destination; and The Dubai Fountain, the world’s tallest performing fountain, in addition to luxury hotels, homes and offices.
