• RTA Meets Suppliers To Probe Improvements Of Common Business

    The Contracts & Procurement Department, Roads & Transport Authority (RTA), has recently held an Open Day for a number of contractors of roads, installations, buildings as well as maintenance works in order to exchange views about possible enhancement of the performance and common business, and share with them the Strategic Plans undertaken in the field of roads & public transport. The gathering, which was held in RTA Head Office, was attended by Saeed Al Murri, Director of Contracts & Procurement in addition to several RTA officials and representatives of contractors.

    “The Department is keen on holding such gatherings every year and meet with contractors, consultants and suppliers in order to further partnerships, strengthen relationships with all stakeholders and contribute to higher achievements that can only be made possible through the concerted collective efforts and heeding to views, suggestions and initiatives made by these parties,” said Al Murri.

    Abdul Malik Abu Al Sheikh, Manager of Transport Policies and Legislations in the RTA, made a presentation in which he focused on RTA’s vision & mission along with the achievements it made in the field of roads infrastructure, public transport (marine transport, buses, rail systems, as well as the construction of bridges, pedestrian bridges, and biking lanes). He underscored the integrated and holistic nature of plans pertinent to the improvement of roads network, along with the flexibility in providing for future upgrading and widening of projects to accommodate the economic developments and urbanization seen by the Dubai Emirate.

    The gathering also screened the projects the RTA is considering to implement during this year (2013) in the field of roads & public transport.

    Attendees then engaged in discussions between RTA officials and contractors with the aim of responding to clients’ queries and attending to their views, proposals and initiatives aimed at improving the business process. Some participants made proposals capable of expediting projects construction in order to ensure timely delivery.

    Contractors inquired if it would be possible for the RTA to forge joint links with the private sector as regards the construction of vital project, and RTA responded by referring to a comprehensive plan in this regard detailing the potentials of partnership with the private sector in various fields in the near future.

    At the end of the gathering, the Director of Contracts & Procurement, reiterated RTA’s keenness to receive all suggestions & initiatives from all individuals & entities, register & analyze them in order to benefit from them in keeping with its strategic plan.
