Dubai Shopping Festival 2013 In The News In Regional Media
Newspapers across the GCC region report about the festival’s events and offers, as well as about increasing visitor numbers to Dubai
This year’s Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF) has caught the interest of the regional media in the GCC countries, with many important publications across the Gulf area from Oman to Kuwait devoting several column inches to reports about the festival that showcases “Dubai at its Best”.
Both English and Arabic language newspapers in almost all GCC countries have reported how visitor numbers to Dubai from around the GCC have been on a constant increase in recent times. Most reports also mentioned the fact that Dubai was crowned as the “World Festival and Event City 2012” for the second successive year by the International Festivals and Events Association, the world’s leading trade association for events.
Writing about the DSF, the reports said the event has grown to become a magnet for tourists from the region and beyond, and also emphasised that it seeks to present the most vibrant picture of Dubai, as evidenced by the official slogan of the festival.
Oman’s “The Week” mentioned the gala opening ceremony of DSF 2013 and its highlights, while Qatar’s “Gulf Times” described the festival as the world’s ‘most elegant shopping festival’. Similar reports were also carried in the popular Qatari news portal www.qatarisbooming.com.
The “Arab Times” and the “Kuwait Times” from Kuwait both mentioned the DSF surprises, raffles and promotions in their reports. Saudi Arabia’s “Arab New”s gave detailed figures on the increase in Saudi visitors to Dubai, as well as the total number of visitors that visited the last edition of the festival, while the
“Saudi Gazette” listed out the retail and promotional deals being offered in DSF 2013 in its report. Bahrain’s “Gulf Daily News” also carried reports of DSF 2013 and how it was being held under the slogan “Dubai at its Best”.
