• 30th January Deadline For Submitting Entries For Dubai Shopping Festival Journalism Award 2013 And DSF Photography Award 2013

    With the 18th edition of Dubai Shopping Festival just entering its halfway mark, media interest in the 32-day shopping and entertainment extravaganza has intensified with the spotlight being on the exciting line-up of events and activities, as well as the shopping-linked promotions and raffles taking place across the city.

    As a gesture of appreciation and to pay tribute to the outstanding support extended to the event by media personnel and media organisations, the Dubai Events and Promotions Establishment (DEPE), an agency of the Department of Economic Development (DED), and organisers of DSF will once again honour journalists and press photographers for their exceptional contribution towards the success of DSF 2013 through the The DSF Journalism Award 2013 and DSF Photography Award 2013.

    Both these Awards are being held under the patronage of His Highness, Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai. This year’s Awards have generated wide interest and DEPE has already started receiving entries from media personnel. The deadline for submiting entries for these two Awards is Wednesday, 30th January. The 18th edition of DSF got underway on 3rd January and will go on till 3rd February with the aim of showcasing “Dubai at its Best”.

    The DSF Journalism Award was instituted to recognise and appreciate the contribution of journalists for their critical role in showcasing the success and development of Dubai Shopping Festival. Entries for the DSF Journalism Award 2013, are invited from print media organisations/journalists in the UAE and region for six different award categories, namely, Best Feature (Local newspapers), Best Feature (Regional newspapers), Best Feature (Magazines ), Best Feature by a Promising Journalist (category open for journalists Under 28 years only), and Best Feature (online portals). The sixth category - Best Editorial Team - will be given to the editorial team that will present the best and most diversified coverage of DSF 2013 in one newspaper.

    The winners in each of the six categories will receive a trophy and prize money of US $ 5,000 while each runner-up will take home a trophy and prize money of US $3,000. The Best Editorial and Design Team will receive a prize money of US $ 10,000.

    The DSF Photography Award, which is open only for press photographers, was instituted to acknowledge the important role played by photography and the great dedication of local press photographers to their noble profession.

    The categories in the DSF Photography Award 2013 are DSF Celebrations and DSF Shopping. The winner will receive a trophy and prize money of US $ 3000, the runner-up will receive US $ 2000, and the third prize winner carries home a purse of US $ 1000.
