• Dubai To Host Classical Flute Trio For The Very First Time In January 2013

After over 1,500 concerts and 25 years of touring the world, experiencing different cultures and composing musical illustrations inspired by these travels, the Trio d’Argent is now destined to perform at the Dubai Community Theatre and Arts Centre (DUCTAC) at the Mall of the Emirates in Dubai, on 16 January 2013 for an evening of cultural bliss.

Organised by the Dubai Concert Committee, in cooperation with the Alliance Française in Dubai, the three flautists, Michel Boizot, François Daudin-Clavaud and Xavier Saint-Bonnet will arrive in Dubai, UAE via Emirates, marking the first time a classical flute trio will perform in Dubai.

“We know through our sponsorship of the Dubai Concert Committee that we provide a great deal of pleasure to classical music followers - and this time it is the turn of Trio d’Argent to entertain and inspire,” said Sir Maurice Flanagan, Executive Vice Chairman, Emirates Airline & Group. “By flying in musicians from around the world, Emirates is also making an important contribution to Dubai’s growing cultural infrastructure, making the city even more attractive as a destination and a place to live.”

The trio will perform works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Freidrich Kulhau and others.

Among the flautists’ own compositions is Le Souffle d’Hermès by François Daudin-Clavaud which attempts to portray the march of nomads travelling ‘towards a new oasis where sometimes spring awaits them.’

Brigitta Dagostin, Chairperson, Dubai Concert Committee, said: “Trio d’Argent has earned a remarkable reputation for developing new repertories for three flutes. This is due to the fact that all three flautists are composers themselves and work closely with composers in France and abroad to create original pieces, which they perform in their concerts. In addition, several composers have dedicated works to this classical music ensemble. People who attend this concert might hear musical elements from every culture, that spans across Asia to the Americas.”

Although they play ‘proper’ Classical music, the musicians also add different visual and auditory elements to their performances, to enhance the mood of their music whilst captivating and engaging every audience member.

The concert is free to all comers thanks to the generous support of our sponsors which include: Emirates, Mont Blanc, Dubai Airports, Airbus, Pullman Dubai Mall of the Emirates, RAK Bank, Deutsche Bank, and more.

Until 7:50pm, admissions are restricted to invitation holders and seats are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Thereafter, any remaining seats are available free to members of the public.
