Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) welcomed 2013 with an Asian music extravaganza, attended by 6000 guests from all over the UAE. This end of year celebration culminated DWTC’s 24 live events and concerts in 2012, underpinning the increasing efforts and investment in hosting and organising the biggest entertainment events in Dubai.

Attracting 106,000 people throughout the year, the impressive roster of celebrities who performed at DWTC hailed from all over the world and spanned six languages, catering to the various nationalities across the emirate and beyond.

Among the top performers in 2012 were world-famous singers Pitbull, Enrique Iglesias, Il Divo, Gotye, Evanescence, Swedish House Mafia, Atif Aslam, as well as international comedian Russell Peters. DWTC also hosted themed concerts including Layali Dubai, which featured Arabic stars, Kathem Al Saher, Hussain Al Jasmi, Meryam Faris and Diana Haddad. Additionally, several events were hosted for a number of the UAE’s communities including Iranian, Indian and Filipino concerts.

In March alone, over 30,000 fans came through DWTC including 10,000, specifically to see Canadian comedian and actor, Russell Peters, who performed his ‘Russell Peters Notorious World Tour’. Beyond comedy, October was another exciting month where international music sensation and Grammy Award winner Enrique Iglesias performed one of the larger concerts at DWTC, captivating 15,000 fans. Audiences were mesmerized by his popular tunes, complemented by state of the art staging, light and acoustics within the interconnected Sheikh Saeed Halls.

“Over the years, Dubai has established itself as a destination of choice for tourists and artists, given its ease of access, infrastructure, safety and most importantly – its world class attractions,” said Helal Saeed Almarri, CEO, Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC). “We believe events of this nature are a major factor in further establishing Dubai’s profile as a premier tourist destination and re-affirming its position on the map of fine arts and music. DWTC’s industry-leading facilities are geared towards accommodating a large number of people safely while providing memorable experiences for the city of Dubai. We have an impressive lineup of live events, concerts and festivals for 2013 that are guaranteed to attract visitors not just from the UAE but across the region and beyond.”

Among the contributing factors that have allowed DWTC to host this high caliber and number of concerts is that it offers the ultimate indoor venue supported by the in-house expertise of the Event Services team who deliver turnkey solutions for all the technical aspects of events including setup, staging, production, rigging, audio visual and lighting as well as event management. Sheikh Saeed Halls, which was opened to cater to the rising demand from the MICE industry, provides over 25,000 sqm of space. The centrepiece of the Sheikh Saeed Halls is the multi-purpose Trade Centre Arena, the Middle East’s largest indoor concert hall which is ideal to host live events, attracting both top-tier artists as well as large audiences. The Sheikh Saeed Halls are complemented by the Dubai World Trade Centre metro station, which is within steps away from the venue, making it the preferred choice for renowned international and regional artists and shows.
