aeDA Hosts Workshop to Promote .ae and Arabic Dot Emirate Domains
AeDA, the regulatory body and registry operator for the .ae domain, a subsidiary of The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA), this week hosted a workshop at TRA’s Dubai office helping public and private-sector stakeholders register and manage their .ae and Arabic dot emirate domains. The workshop follow’s aeDA’s broader mission to perpetuate growth of the namespace and promote competition by accrediting multiple .ae registrars.
Over 20 public sector entities gathered for the event, discussing everything from the advantages of a .ae domain, optimization on the site and troubleshooting through common avoidable mistakes.
“.ae and the Arabic dot emarate are true assets allowing UAE public and private-sector entities to differentiate themselves in the digital sphere,” said Salem Al Shair, Deputy Director General for information and E- government Sector. “We hope this workshop helps our stakeholders engage more effectively with the domains, and look forward to working with these entities to promote the continued growth of this namespace. Over 100,000 registrants are thus far operating on .ae alone, reflecting the ease and affordability of registration and the success of our open registrar model.”
This event comes on the heels of the recent aeDA milestone of 100,000 registrations for the UAE national top level domain. This achievement establishes the UAE as the leading nation in terms of number of registrants in the Arab region. As part of its commitment toward the local internet community in the UAE, the TRA continues to implement the best international practices in protecting intellectual property rights for its registrants and supporting leading-edge technological trends and sector developments.
There are currently 18 accredited registrars enabling clients to complete the registration process. TRA continues to maintain 100% availability of (.ae) DNS and registry services to promote competition and facilitate better service for the end-user. The broad success of registration levels coupled with the ongoing partnerships of registrars reflects the impressive industry progress of aeDA since launch.
