DIFF’s November Film Buzz: From Book To Big Screen At The Pavilion, Downtown Dubai
Supported By The British Council - A Line-Up of Screen Adaptations of Acclaimed Books
Film Buzz, the popular DIFF screening series held at The Pavilion Downtown Dubai, returns on Monday, November 26th through to Wednesday 28th. On the heels of the wildly popular Halloween horror-fest that was October’s Film Buzz, audiences will be treated to a compelling three-day film screenings of films adapted from highly praised bestselling books.
The November programme co-curated and supported by The British Council gets underway on Monday, November 26th with the Middle Eastern Premiere of Submarine based on the book by Joe Dunthorne comes a terrific British coming of age comedy that follows social outcast 15-year-old Oliver Tate (Craig Roberts) in his dual quest to keep his family. The film will follow with a discussion lead by renowned film expert Ian Haydn Smith.
On Tuesday, 27th is Project Nim, a fascinating documentary based on Elizabeth Hess’s unforgettable biography about the life and times of an adorable chimpanzee adopted by a human family and an experiment that changed the lives of all it touched.
Rounding up the programme on Wednesday 28th is the emotional thriller We Need to Talk about Kevin based on the Orange Prize winning novel by Lionel Shriver, starring Academy Award winner Tilda Swinton as the mother of a disturbed teenager who commits a heinous act.
DIFF’s Artistic Director, Masoud Amralla al Ali, said: “This month we are celebrating book-to-film adaptations that have made it from the book shelf to the box office successfully. These three exceptional novels are brought to life onto the big screen and are every bit as brilliant as the pages of the novel leaving fans of the novels truly satisfied.”
