• UAE Envoy Hosts Reception For UAE Delegations Attending ITB

    Sharjah enjoysleading position in German market, says Al Noman

    HE Mohamed Ali Al Noman, Chairman, Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority has hailed growing cooperationand tourism tiesbetween Germany and the UAE in general and Sharjah in particular, which havewitnessed a remarkable growth in recent years attracting a huge number of tourist delegations from various German cities. He said Sharjah received 85,484 German tourists in 2012 affirming the emirate’s leading position in the German market thanks tothe diversity of its tourism product and modern tourism infrastructure.

    This came in the SCTDA Chairman’s remarks at the gala dinner hosted by the UAE Embassy in the German capital for the visitingUAE delegations taking part in the high-profile ITB Berlin 2013, underscoring the importance of strengthening ties and cooperation between UAE and Germany on the one hand and various government agencies and departments in the country on the other.

    Al Noman said that the emirate’spresence at the ITB Berlin helpedfortify Sharjah’sposition in the German market and boost tiesand cooperation with major German players and companies. This is Sharjah’s 16th year at the premiere international tourism convention and has won the emirate a number of international awards and titles.

    Praising the remarkable surge in UAE and German economic cooperation and relations, Al Noman pointed out that more than 800 German companiesand businessesare now based in the country, not to mention the growing tourism and trade exchange between the two countries. He said Sharjah enjoys a leading position in the German market because of the diversity of itstourism sectorand the world-class, high-end services and facilities offered for tourists and investors alike.

    The senior Sharjah officials and dignitaries who attended the gala dinner included HE Khalid Jasim Al Midfa, Director General, SCTDA, HE Abdullah Ali Al Mahian, Chairman, Sharjah Health Authority, HE Marwan Jasim Al Serkal, CEO, Shurooq (Sharjah Investment and Development Authority), HE Ali Salim Al Midfa, Director General, Sharjah Airport Authorityand senior representatives of various public and private sector bodies who are part of the delegation.

    The ITB Berlin exhibition, being held fromMarch 6-10 is in its 47th year. Sharjah’s culture, heritage and tourist attractions are being showcased at ITB Berlin at an attractive, 403-sqm pavilion celebrating the best the emirate has to offer, including its heritage, iconic tourist attractions and celebrated cultural events, festivals besides profiling the Emirati traditions, folklore, cuisine and arts such as henna-paintingand calligraphy.
