• Key Players In Events And Conferences Industry Welcome Launch Of Abu Dhabi Convention Bureau

Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company (ADNEC) has reaffirmed the significant role of the Abu Dhabi Convention Bureau, which was launched on 4 March under the umbrella of Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority (TCA Abu Dhabi).

A dedicated, one stop support shop within the Authority, the bureau will aim to position the emirate as a major player in the sector through driving and supporting the development and promotion of events and initiatives, which have recently witnessed remarkable growth rates. The bureau will provide a range of services to the industry including bid presentation support, delegate generation campaigns, local stakeholder co-ordination and knowledge, on-site destination advice, government support co-ordination and marketing assistance

Humaid Matar Al Dhaheri, Chief Commercial Officer at ADNEC, said the Abu Dhabi Convention Bureau will serve as a valuable tool in supporting and implementing the company’s blueprint for the events and conferences sector, while listing the Exhibitions Centre, ADNEC and the Al Ain Convention Centre in the calendar of international and global events.

Al Dhaheri added: “Business tourism plays an important role in Abu Dhabi’s tourism agenda and we are working on highlighting the attractions in the emirate of Abu Dhabi on a local, regional and international level. Our continuous endeavour is to attract meetings, incentive events, conferences and exhibitions to Abu Dhabi and strengthen our partnerships with global players. We are confident this strategy will serve to improve the quality of upcoming conferences in Abu Dhabi and eventually contribute to growing our nation’s economy, in line with Abu Dhabi Vision 2030.”

Al Dhaheri urged companies and institutions that organize conferences and events to leverage the services offered by the Abu Dhabi Convention Bureau and extend them to local, regional and international companies that aim to host events in Abu Dhabi.

Ara Fernezian, Divisional Managing Director - UAE at Reed Exhibitions, said: “The bureau will play an enabling role in driving the events industry in Abu Dhabi. Apart from attracting prominent corporate event organizers and international initiatives to Abu Dhabi, it will also serve to list the emirate on the global calendar of annual events. The launch of the bureau will expedite the growth of business tourism, which features as an important component of the international tourism traffic due to the fact that business tourists spend seven times more than the average tourist.”

Reiterating Abu Dhabi’s status as an ideal destination for hosting leading events and international conferences, Antoine Georges, Managing Director at Dome Exhibitions, said: “The industry has witnessed considerable improvement during the past few years and positioned Abu Dhabi on the global map due to the quality and diverse services it offers. The events sector significantly contributes to the emirate’s GDP and is considered as one of the fastest growing markets, thanks to the global nature of the emirate and its robust economy . Against this scenario, the bureau will serve to drive the sector to its next level of growth. More importantly, it will help build partnerships with all regulators to attract more international activities and events to Abu Dhabi.”

Nicky Mason, Chief Operating Officer, Informa Exhibitions, said: “We are delighted about the launch of Abu Dhabi Convention Bureau as it will facilitate our mission to attract international companies and related institutions to consider Abu Dhabi as a global hub that possesses the infrastructure, facilities and services necessary to host international events.” She also emphasised her company’s support for the initiatives that the bureau will undertake to promote business tourism in Abu Dhabi and create a competitive environment in the sector.
