Sharjah’s iconic landmarks such as the Cultural Palace Square, Kuwait Square and Sharjah Consultative Council, which are part of the Sharjah Light Festival 2013 itinerary, have been attracting heavy flow of local and regional visitors as well as international tourists since the festival opened on February 7.

Some of the most picturesque and instantly identified across the country, the Sharjah landmarks have been transformed by the artistry and technical wizardry of international professionals and experts associated with the Sharjah Light Festival giving them totally new dimensions. The SLF 2013 is hosted by the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority at 14 locations across the emirate.

The spectacular visual effects and fusion of lights and colours, especially at the Cultural Palace Square, Kuwait Square and Sharjah Consultative Council, leave the spectators spellbound that include large numbers of families and foreign visitors.

A video show composed of maritime motifs and oriental designs has transformed the Consultative Council into a magical body of light. The Kuwait Square presentation includes shells, corals, sea flora and algae from a long gone era when Sharjah’s sands were still beneath the sea.

This year, the focus has been on the Emirati and Arab love affair with the sea and the whole culture and environment associated with it, recollecting the legends of the Arab ancestors and their exploits on far seas.
