• Manchester City And Abu Dhabi Launch Fan-friendly Look-alike Contest

    International football fans bearing a striking resemblance to a Manchester City Football Club player could win a once-in-a-lifetime adventure holiday in Abu Dhabi courtesy of a fan-friendly ‘look-alike contest’ being run by the reigning Barclays Premier League champions, official club partner Etihad Airways, the UAE’s national carrier, and Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority (TCA Abu Dhabi), the club’s official destination partner.

    The global competition, being run on www.mcfc.co.uk and open to entries the world over, requires fans to select the Manchester City player they most resemble and send their personal look-alike picture to the club website.* Entries close on March 31.

    A jury of Manchester City first team players will select the best look-alike, with the ultimate winner – depending on country of residence and personal preference – choosing either an action-packed four-day adventure break to Abu Dhabi or four-day trip to Manchester and two tickets to an English Premier League game at Etihad Stadium.

    The Abu Dhabi adventure holiday for two includes return Etihad Airways Economy Class (Coral) flights from any destination on the carrier’s global network and a dynamic desert-city excursion. Upon arrival, the winner and their guest will travel to the emirate’s heritage heartland of Al Ain to experience camel rides, dune bashing, falconry displays, quad-biking, sand boarding and poolside desert relaxation during two nights’ stay at the enchanting Arabian Nights Village.

    The winner and guest will then absorb Abu Dhabi’s entertainment district during two nights’ stay on Yas Island, where they will enjoy complimentary access to leisure attractions such as the recently-opened Yas Waterworld, the world’s most futuristic waterpark, and Ferrari World Abu Dhabi, the world’s largest indoor theme park and home to the world’s fastest rollercoaster.

    The look-alike competition was formally launched during Manchester City’s recent 2-0 win over Chelsea. Prior to kick-off, TCA Abu Dhabi promoted the emirate’s newest tourism attractions – including Arabian Nights Village and Yas Waterworld - to tens of thousands of home supporters at a purpose-built ‘Abu Dhabi Tent’ in City Square. In addition to learning all about the emirate’s exciting new attractions, spectators were able to have their photograph taken with a falcon, have their hands painted in henna and have their names written in Arabic by a calligraphy artist.
