• Twitter Pioneer Dom Sagolla Praises Abu Dhabi’s Support Social Media

Twitter pioneer Dom Sagolla has praised the support provided by Abu Dhabi to the media industry.

The digital expert and entrepreneur noted the Emirate’s commitment to keep pace with the latest technologies in the social media landscape in particular.

The twitter pioneer met with Noura Al Ka’abi, Chief Executive Officer of the Media Zone Authority - Abu Dhabi and twofour54 earlier this month. The two discussed, among other things, the exponential growth and future trends in social media across the UAE and the region.

Dom Sagolla, praised the Media Zone Authority - Abu Dhabi’s support and attention to social media: "Abu Dhabi, supported by twofour54, has really embraced the social media sphere through the launch of twofour54’s social media initiatives. I’ve enjoyed my visit and look forward to coming again, especially with the growth and opportunities available here." Al Ka’abi stressed the significance of Dom Sagolla’s visit, commenting: "The volume of twitter users is growing and the platform is set to become the most commonly used since the emergence of the internet. In the UAE, the number of twitter users has reached 305,000. Social media has become essential to the creative process, enabling reporters, journalists, media professionals and public relations professionals new ways to consume and share information and connect with others." twofour54 is committed to helping enrich Arabic content across the worldwide web, including its numerous social media platforms. One of the ways it’s doing this is by supporting Taghreedat, a major Arabic e-content community building initiative, currently ranked the fourth most influential Arabic brand on twitter after leading the first project for the Arabisation of the social media site twitter in October 2011.

twofour54 has also supported Arabic digital content community building initiatives, to localize social media platforms such as Wikimedia a non-profit organisation which is part of Wikipedia, the world’s biggest electronic encyclopedia.

Additionally, as the region witnesses a significant increase in the number of smart Mobile phones users, twofour54 has responded with the development of six Arabic applications. Recent studies have shown that Arabic web content accounts for more than 3% of the total web content.
