UAE Armed Forces Announces 17 Deals Worth AED 4B On 4th Day Of IDEX2013

Seventeen defence contracts worth AED 4 billion were signed by the UAE Armed Forces with international and national contractors, Major General Obaid Al Ketbi, Chairman of higher organising committee for the International Defence Exhibition and Conference (IDEX2013) and the show’s spokesman, announced Tuesday, at the show’s daily press briefing on the fourth day of the defence show at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center (ADNEC).

The largest deal announced was worth AED1.1 billion and was signed with ADNOC Distribution, a subsidiary of Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), which will manage and operate facilities and provide fuel for the UAE Armed Forces’ vehicles and aircraft.

Hydra Trading, a local company, won a contract worth AED390 million to supply technical support for the UAE Armed Forces’ Leclerc tanks, BMP-3 armored personnel carriers, Hummers, Tatra trucks, 109mm mortars and G6 mortars Canada’s PAL (Provincial Aerospace Limited) won a contract worth AED181.8 million according to which it will provide and install satellite communication (SATCOM) systems on the UAE’s Navy reconnaissance aircraft.

The International Golden Group (IGG), a national business, was awarded a contract worth AED330.6 million to supply different military gear, while the national Al Badie Group will provide the Armed Forces with spare parts worth AED34 million for tank truck carriers.

USA’s Lockheed Martin Overseas won a AED134.4 million deal to provide land equipment to the Armed Forces.

A contract worth AED128.6 million to procure and install satellite communication (SATCOM) systems on the UAE Navy’s Baynunah ships was awarded to Abu Dhabi Ship Building Company (ADSB).

Also announced today by the UAE Armed Forces were a contract worth AED16 million with Pyrosafe Technologies Trading company to supply spare parts an various naval equipment.

Italy’s WASS won a contract worth AED28 million to supply anti-torpedoes survival effectors for the Navy’s Abu Dhabi Ship.

The UAE’s the Advanced Military Maintenance Repair and Overhaul Centre (AMMROC) won a contract worth AED143 million to provide overhaul of Panther helicopters, while GeoEye Solutions Inc. AED210.8 million to supply satellite imagery services worth AED40 million.

The UAE’s IGG again won a contract worth AED210.8 million to supply artillery shell charges to the Armed Forces.

Al-Fattan Ship Building Company, a national business, won a contract worth AED16 million to provide HITROL naval guns.

Fidelity Technologies Corp won a contract worth AED49.9 million to provide fighting simulators.

The AED550 million contract with the Global Medical Solutions stipulates the procurement of medical crews, while Al Shamil will provide training services worth AED516.8 million to the Armed Forces, and Caracal, a subsidiary of Tawazun, won a contract worth AED132.3 million to supply various types of rifles and ammunition.

Major General Al-Ketbi also announced the UAE Armed Force’s intention to purchase 1000 Nimr vehicles from Nimr Automotive, another subsidiary of Tawazun. On Tuesday, Al-Ketbi announced the Armed Forces’ intention to buy 800 Nimr vehicles, taking the total order to 1800.
