Radio Mirchi Marks 1st Birthday With Month-Long Celebration

Station hosts a month of anniversary activities for listeners throughout February

Special activities include overseas trip for listeners to the Mirchi Music Awards, on-air giveaways, and a Radio Mirchi birthday concert with leading Bollywood singers

Radio Mirchi, Abu Dhabi Media’s leading radio station catering to the South Asian audience, turns one-year-old this month, and to mark the occasion, the station has kicked off a full month of fun and excitement on air. Listeners are invited to join in the celebrations throughout February, which include a line-up of competitions, prize give-aways, exciting listener events, and hundreds of tickets to be won for the Radio Mirchi birthday concert in Dubai.

The birthday festivities bring to a close a year of remarkable achievements for Radio Mirchi, that began with a star-studded Bollywood launch and ended with the station winning the “UAE’s Best Radio Station” at the 5th Annual Masala! Awards 2012.

Commenting on the occasion, Abdul Rahman Awadh Al Harthi, Executive Director of the Abu Dhabi Radio Network, said: “A year on from the launch of Radio Mirchi in the UAE, it is impressive to see how much the station has achieved in such a short space of time. To kick off the birthday celebrations, Radio Mirchi is taking a select number of listeners to the home of Bollywood music – the Mirchi Music Awards, to be held in Mumbai tonight. Regarded as one of the biggest Bollywood music industry events in the world, the lucky Radio Mirchi listeners were selected through an on-air competition and will be given the opportunity to meet some of Bollywood’s top celebrities.

Other highlights planned for the station’s birthday celebrations include a Radio Mirchi birthday concert in Dubai, where the station will host performances by a number of leading Bollywood composers and singers. The birthday bash is expected to attract over 5,000 people, and Radio Mirchi will give away hundreds of tickets to listeners on-air with fun and interactive competitions.

Given the station’s birthday falls within the “month of love”, Radio Mirchi will also be giving listeners the chance to win ten unique couples experiences throughout the month of February. Listeners can enter by tuning in to Radio Mirchi for the on-air competition, getting themselves in the draw to win a host of amazing prizes including hot air balloon rides, yacht cruises, helicopter flights, chauffeured limo rides, or dinner at an exotic location.
