• Emirati Fusion Cuisine Showcase For Gourmet Abu Dhabi

UAE’s renowned Chef Khulood Atiq to serve up invigorating Emirati dining experience

Fresh from her triumph at the USA’s 15th Annual Worlds of Flavor International Conference where she presented exotic flavours and ingredients of the United Arab Emirates and demonstrated her own local spice mixture, UAE Chef Khulood Atiq is planning an invigorating Emirati fusion dinner at the Monte-Carlo Beach Club Saadiyat on 11 February as part of Gourmet Abu Dhabi, the annual haute cuisine festival.

With an ambition to elevate traditional Emirati cuisine from a banquet-style, family-focused meal to fine dining at a global standard, Chef Khulood aims to infuse the dinner with the warmth and hospitality Emiratis are renowned for.

" I am very excited to have the opportunity to host a dedicated Emirati dinner as part of Abu Dhabi Gourmet. The Emirati Fusion dinner will allow me to present traditional UAE food adapted and presented in a modern a la carte style whilst extending UAE hospitality from the beautiful Monte Carlo Beach Club on Saadiyat Island," said Chef Khulood, an Arabic and Emirati Cuisine Specialist for Tourism Development & Investment Company’s (TDIC) and the UAE’s first female chef.

“Emirati cuisine is evolving and developing rapidly, with increased interest from diners to sample the heritage Emirati flavours and ingredients such as rice, local spice mixes, as well as cardamom and saffron for desserts.”

Guests immersing themselves in Chef Khulood’s Emirati Fusion dinner will discover an innovative menu with mini camel burgers, locally-sourced prawns with rocket sauce, and spiced mackerel with mohammar rice, along with more traditional Emirati dishes such as salt fish Madrouba, Lamb Thareed and Chicken Harees.

“Serving Emirati cuisine in a la carte and canapé style is a modern take on the traditional and it is much quicker for busy modern lives, I think our guests will be intrigued and pleasantly surprised,” said Chef Khulood.

Preparations for the event have been underway for weeks, with executive chef for Monte-Carlo Beach Club Mathew Goodlet working in conjunction with Chef Khulood to design the exclusive one-time-only Emirati Fusion experience.

“It’s an honour for me to join forces with a local chef of this calibre,” said Chef Goodlet,”and we’re both incredibly excited about bringing Emirati cuisine to the forefront of the finest dining experiences on Saadiyat Island.

“Our guests can expect a whole host of traditional dishes using local delicacies, and truly soak up the atmosphere of a very special evening in one of Abu Dhabi’s most luxurious and beautiful settings.”

With a passion for promoting Emirati cuisine through television cooking programmes and a best-selling cookbook, Chef Khulood is on a mission to share her culture’s heritage through its cuisine.

“Emirati cuisine is not only focused on the food, but encompasses an entire dining experience of local hospitality and warmth. Hospitality is virtually ingrained in our DNA, and it is my wish for more and more people to experience this unique and deeply cherished aspect of our culture.”
