• Total Employs More Emiratis To Support Hydrocarbons Sector

Total UAE said today it would pursue its efforts to support job Emiratization in the country’s oil and gas sector as it pushes ahead with plans to attract more qualified Emiratis into its facilities.

As part of its commitment towards Emiratization, Total UAE is participating in the January 29-31 career fair to be held at the Abu Dhabi national exhibition centre under the patronage of minister of higher education and scientific research HH Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan. More than 2,000 jobs are expected to be presented for Emiratis at the fair, to be attended by 12 other oil and gas companies.

Mr Sultan Al-Hajji, Total UAE Vice President for Institutional Development, commended the fair and affirmed that Total is providing more jobs to Emiratis in the hydrocarbons sector by qualifying them for such jobs through studies at its academy.

He underlined the important role played by the Abu Dhabi-based academy in developing national human resources so they can work in this vital sector.

He noted that Total UAE in 2008 launched an initiative to establish that academy in order to attain the ambitions of Abu Dhabi emirate in qualifying its nationals to work in the energy sector, mainly in the oil and gas industry.

He also said that a programme undertaken by Total Abu Al Bukhoosh to upgrade the performance of its employees was part of a strategy intended to achieve Abu Dhabi’s ambitions and objectives within its Vision 2030.
Commenting on the fair, Mr Amer Al Shaikh Ali, General Manager of Total Abu Al Bukhoosh, said the company is keen to provide job opportunities for nationals, adding the development of UAE nationals” is high on the priority list of Total ABK.”

“Today, 50% of department managers in the company are Emiratis. Career minded UAE nationals are invited to join the dynamic team of Total ABK.”

Key firms taking part in the fair include ADNOC Group and its affiliated companies—the gold sponsor of the event—as well as Mubadala Development Company and Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation, offering nearly 500 jobs to Emiratis in various posts and sectors. Other companies include the General Holding Corporation and the Abu Dhabi National Energy Company.
