• Emirates ID Signs Strategic Partnership Agreement With Al Hilal Bank

Agreement is aimed at enhancing verification of customers identity through using electronic reading machines

The Emirates Identity Authority and Al Hilal Bank have signed a strategic partnership agreement aimed for the bank to officially adopt the ID card and optimize its advanced applications in all the bank’s services provided to customers via all its branches across the UAE through the use of ID card electronic reading machines.

The agreement, signed in the headquarter of Al Hilal Bank in Abu Dhabi today, came as part of the two parties quest to bolster strategic partnership between them and was based on their keenness on simplifying and facilitating the services provided to customers and shortening the time of their completion in addition to improving the process of verifying the identity of customers and protecting their interests.

The agreement, signed by H.E. Dr. Eng. Ali Mohamed Al Khouri, Emirates ID Director General, and Mr. Mohamed Jamil Berro, CEO of Al Hilal Bank, stipulates the provision by the Emirates ID of electronic reading machines and the required applications for reading the data stored in the ID card with the aim of verifying the identity of customers and ensuring the validity of the card. Al Hilal Banks adoption of the ID card in its transactions supports the efforts exerted by the Emirates ID for the ID card to become the main reference for verifying the identity and providing accurate and instant demographic data in the UAE, Al Khouri said, noting that this initiative is a new qualitative addition to the list of UAE government and private entities that adopt the ID card, numbering more than 160 entities.

This agreement will contribute to the bank benefiting from the electronic applications of the ID card, which features such specifications that match the worlds highest standards for protecting the ID and identifying the personality through electronic networks as part of the Electronic Certification Center project, which is currently being developed by the Emirates ID, Al Khouri added.

For his part, Berro said the ID card would be a major source for specifying the data of personal identity for all the bank’s customers of both UAE nationals and residents, considering that the ID card is a basic requirement for processing government transactions.

The bank is optimistic about the results of this agreement, which is an effective step that would enhance the bank’s ability to use the Emirates ID’s technological base efficiently in the bank’s operations, Berro added, noting that this would in turn lead to the provision of enhanced and advanced services in line with the bank’s strategic objectives.

Al Hilal Bank is one of the early UAE banks to adopt the ID card in its banking transactions as a basic and secure document for verifying the identity of individuals. This came as part of the bank’s keenness on providing the best services and reducing the time used for completing transactions.
