• 2013 Sharjah Tatweer Forum Set To Promote Entrepreneurial Sector Under The Theme ’’Getting Down To Business’’

    Annual conference is held under the patronage of HH Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Ruler of Sharjah

    Sharjah Tatweer Forum has announced that its 2013 annual conference on entrepreneurship will be held on 23 and 24 January under the theme “Getting Down to Business”. The conference aims to boost the emirate’s entrepreneurial sector, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member, Ruler of Sharjah and the Honorary Chairman of Sharjah Tatweer Forum; and His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education. Business leaders, high-ranking government officials and entrepreneurs from various industries are expected to converge at the popular annual showcase.

    Building on last year’s success, the 2013 conference will reinforce the crucial role played by ambitious young entrepreneurs in elevating Sharjah and the UAE as a whole into a highly competitive business environment. This will ultimately attract investments for major projects that can propel Sharjah towards further expansion and prosperity.

    The first day of the conference will feature a comprehensive look at the relationship between education and entrepreneurship, and ways to encourage innovative youths to become tomorrow’s business leaders. the Ministry of the Economy will then outline the new law that has been specifically designed to benefit SMEs.

    The conference will also discuss the role of international players like the US, especially considering that a key part of President Obama’s foreign policy will be the support of entrepreneurship in the UAE. Prominent speakers like Dr Yasar Jarrar will discuss case studies of the UAE’s SME sector. The Sharjah Businesswomen Council is also participating, putting special emphasis on the role of women in Sharjah’s economic progress.

    Mr Jassim Al Beloushi, Chairman of the Sharjah Tatweer Forum will elaborate on the main objectives of STF, which are to support ambitious young entrepreneurs and transform them into tomorrow’s business leaders. “The UAE in general and Sharjah in particular has a lot of exciting potential for growth, particularly considering the recent supportive new legislation and the announcement of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid’s City, which will include an SME hub and the facilities to create innovative enterprises. Our youths have a lot of creativity and innovation, so now it is time for them to take the lead among entrepreneurs in the Middle East.”

    The conference will also include an explanation to the different types of entrepreneurship such as social entrepreneurship, lifestyle
    entrepreneurship, digital entrepreneurship as well as franchising and serial entreopreneurs who are continuously venturing into new businesses.

    Interesting case studies will be shared, as well as inspiring success stories of how entrepreneurs achieved long-term success in various business fields.

    The second day will feature the launch of "TAM", an initiative set to give aspiring entrepreneurs the opportunity to find investors who can fund their growth plans. Numerous banks, investment companies, funds and supporting organizations will attend with the collective aim of upgrading promising business ideas into the next level of success.

    The Forum seeks to build financial partnerships between investors and entrepreneurs, which will benefit not only the respective industries but the entire economy.

    As part of its activities, the Forum has conducted certified training programs and workshops, carried out research and studies on Sharjah The resulting recommendations from its research and retreats are submitted to the relevant authorities. This will also build bridges of communication, and help develop projects targeted specifically at young people as well as projects that serve the Emirate of Sharjah.

    Sharjah Tatweer Forum is also developing a comprehensive strategy for dealing with establishing projects and SMEs, including consultancy services, coaching, and partnerships with the private sector in addition to raising awareness of the many attractive investment opportunities in Sharjah.

    Among the initiatives that the Forum has organized, is the first Start-up Weekend in Sharjah, to promote the spirit of entrepreneurship in the emirate. TAM is now activating the next phase of this concept by helping young entrepreneurs to connect with investors interested in supporting growth for existing SMEs.
