• Dubai Shopping Festival 2013 To Reach Its Crescendo With Midnight Fashion And The Biggest Makeover

Twin events to be held at The Dubai Mall in the final weekend of the festival

The Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF) 2013, the 32-day long celebration of “Dubai at its Best” will come to a fitting finale during its last weekend with two fashion extravaganzas that are set to dazzle the crowds of visitors and residents at The Dubai Mall.

The Midnight Fashion Show and the Biggest Sampling/ Makeover look set to become memorable events in Dubai’s fashion calendar this year by bringing a fresh look at haute couture to the DSF. The events will be focused on the busy Friday night of February 1 - the last Friday of the DSF - and will roll into the early hours of February 2.

Dubai Fashion 2013 presented by Dubai Events and Promotions Establishment, an agency of the Department of Economic Development and organizers of the DSF, is the region’s much-awaited glamour event. The opening event of the series – Express Fashion – the first-ever fashion show on a moving train in the region, had already set the tone for Dubai Fashion 2013 after it took place to rave reviews on Wednesday, January 23rd, onboard a special Dubai Metro train. The second of the unique shows under Dubai Fashion, “The Street Catwalk” was staged on the sidewalks of The Dubai Mall Fountain Promenade on Saturday, 26th featuring more than 100 professional and amateur models showcasing the beautiful and exciting creations of local and international designers. The fashion show was a podium for fresh and aspiring models, including children, many of whom were drawn from among Dubai’s residents and visitors of a multitude of nationalities.

The Midnight Fashion show will showcase the works of a variety of designers and highlight the extended DSF trading hours of The Dubai Mall, which closes all through the festival at 1am. To be held at The Dubai Mall Catwalk near the Fashion Avenue, the show will feature eight models, who will grab the spotlight during three shows at 12am, 12:25am and 12:45am, each of which will run for approximately 12 minutes. It will feature fashion brands such as Jack Wills, River Island and Miss Selfridges while the hairdo will be by The Doll House.

The fashion ambience will be carried forward the next day – February 2 - with the Biggest Sampling/ Makeover, a 10-hour marathon of beauty and transformation that starts at 11am and runs all the way to 9:30pm.

The Dubai Mall’s Fashion Catwalk will host 30 make-up stations, all manned by experts of the art who will transform all participants into paragons of beauty with a few strokes of their magic brushes, a dab of foundation or a roll of the mascara. Sponsored by Paris Gallery, the event will give its participants a “Day Look” from 11am to 4:30pm and an “Evening Look” from 5pm to 9:30pm using accessories from some of the biggest names in global fashion such as Yves Saint Laurent, Givenchy, Shiseido, Dior, Lancome and more.

As DSF 2013 takes its final bow, it will bid adieu with its grand style of international haute couture and transformed fashionistas, bringing to an end a month of the best that Dubai has to offer.
