• Dubai Fashion’s ’’Street Catwalk’’ Captivates Thousands Of Dubai Shopping Festival Visitors At The Dubai Mall

Dubai Fashion, a signature event of Dubai Shopping Festival 2013, drew in thousands of visitors to The Dubai Mall on Saturday through its trend-setting ’’Street Catwalk’’, the second of its four unique shows designed to showcase fashion at its best.

Dubai Fashion 2013 presented by Dubai Events and Promotions Establishment, an agency of the Department of Economic Development and organizers of the DSF, is the region’s much-awaited glamour event taking place from January 23rd to February 2nd, as part of the 18th edition of DSF. The opening event of the series – Express Fashion – the first-ever fashion show on a moving train in the region, had already set the tone for Dubai Fashion 2013 after it took place to rave reviews on Wednesday, January 23rd, onboard a special Dubai Metro train.

The “Street Catwalk” and two other Dubai Fashion 2013 events are being held in collaboration with The Dubai Mall. The other two events are Midnight Fashion on 1st February and the Biggest Makeover on 2nd February.

The “Street Catwalk” took place at three different times – 3pm, 4pm and 5pm - to give an opportunity to as many DSF visitors and connoisseurs of fashion as possible to witness this unique event.

Fashion, beauty and glamour wowed the audiences who gave a thunderous applause to the 110 people who sashayed down the 120-meter runway specially created at the mall’s Fountain Promenade.

Featuring a blend of models from numerous nationalities, “Street Catwalk” featured 40 professional models and 70 amateur models who were all oozing with confidence and in high spirits, right from the youngest model who was three years old.

Street Catwalk kicked off with the parade of cute boys and pretty girls donned in a mix of the latest collections and Spring/Summer 2013 children’s wear collections from international brands. The stylish event continued as the audiences got to feast for the next thirty minutes on the splashing of fabulous clothes, bags, shoes and accessories from the likes of Studio 8, Mumbai Se, Bebe, Stradivarius, Coast, Warehouse, Oasis, Justice, Salsa Gymboree, and Bershka.

Adding to the color and noise of “Street Catwalk” were the fascinating sights of Dubai Fountain and Burj Khalifa, and the lively mix of music by South African DJs known as Twins On Decks. Commenting on their participation, the twins Darren and Ryan Rigney, said: “It’s our first time in Dubai, and it’s amazing that we’re part of this fashion show. Dubai is such a beautiful city and it is very cosmopolitan and with plenty of beautiful people. That’s why we find this event quite appropriate where real people get to be on the runway, and participate in the celebration of fashion.”

Among those watching the event were Philip Abalos and Christian Decena. “All of the models seemed so professional. They look stylish and beautiful – very confident, too. The kids were just amazing. They gave life to the show!”, said Philip while Christian commented: “Every DSF I look forward to seeing the fashion shows. Their events spell nothing else but fashion. This Street Catwalk is the epitome of what Dubai is like – the energetic sounds, the perfect venue, the mix of beauties from different nationalities and, of course, the magnificent fashion and style. It is indeed showing the bests of Dubai.”
