• Al Tayer Honours Winners Of Inaugural Roads & Transport Authority Award For Scientific Research

    Roads & Transport Authority – Mohammed Al Munji:

    H.E. Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), has recently decorated the winners of the inaugural edition of the Roads & Transport Authority Award for Scientific Research through which the RTA is seeking to identify talented & experienced employees in order to better utilize their potentials in leveraging RTA business process, and managing knowledge, besides publishing the winning researches in the international serials to share the benefits at a wider level.

    The felicitation ceremony, which was held in RTA Al Wasl Auditorium, was attended by Dr. Mansour Al Awar, Chancellor of Hamdan bin Mohammed University; Dr. Mohammed Yousef, Vice-Chancellor of the UAE University; Dr. Salah Taher Al Haj, Vice-Chancellor of Sharjah University for Community Affairs; and Professor Basim Mohammed Younes, Director of Academic Affairs, Dubai School of Government; in addition to a plethora of RTA CEOs and Directors.

    Al Tayer decorated the winners of Roads & Transport Authority Award for Scientific Research where Haitham Abdul Razak (Marine Dep’t) won the first position for submitting a research entitled: Utilizing Solar Energy in Air-Conditioning Bus Shelters. The first position was also shared by Ms Sarah Ishaaq Mohammed (Strategic Planning Dep’t) for a research named: Attitudes of Dubai Metro Riders. Kamal Mohammed Adeer (Rail Projects Planning & Development Dep’t) finished second for submitting a research entitled: RTA Efforts in Saving Power Consumption in Dubai Metro Project.

    Al Tayer also honoured the participants in the first edition of RTA Scientific Research Award, including: Maher Fareed Sheera (IT Dep’t) along with Bus Dep’t team comprising Basel Ibrahim, Iad Khalaf Al Balawneh and Mariam Al Baluchi for submitting a research entitled: Financial Efficiency of Bus Management. He also decorated Anas Fadel Dollan for his research named: The Role of Licensing Agency in Reducing RTA Carbon Footprint. The list of honorees also included Mohammed Shahid Tanweer (IT Dep’t) and the Corporate Technical Support Services Sector; which made the largest number of submissions to the Award among RTA agencies & sectors.
    Al Tayer also honoured members of the Judges Panel of the Award comprising Prof. Basim Mohammed Younes, Director of Academic Affairs, Dubai School of Government; Prof. Yaser Al Sayed Hawas, Director of Roads, Transportation and Traffic Safety Engineering Research Center at the UAE University; Prof. Mustafa Noor Udeen Hasan, Dean of e-School of Health and Environmental Studies, Hamdan Bin Mohammed e-University; and Dr. Khalid Hasan Assistant Professor, Faculty of Engineering, University of Sharjah. Also honoured was the Award Team in the RTA headed by Ahmed Bahrozyan, CEO of Licensing Agency cum Team Leader; Laila Mohammed Taher, Director of the Office of RTA Chairman of the Board & Executive Director cum Deputy Head of the Team, in addition to Team Members: Nasir Hamad Abu Shehab; Khalaf Abdul Qadir Khalaf; Kawthar Kazim; Rawdah Muhammad Al Mahrazi; and Juma Butti Al Mutawa.

    Bahrozyan was delighted with the success made by the first edition of the Award; which illustrated RTA’s concern and attention to supporting the culture of scientific research, and encouraging employees to foster such culture, especially among Emirati employees.

    “17 submissions were contributed to the inaugural edition of the Roads & Transport Authority Award for Scientific Research comprising 15 individual participations and two team participations,” said Bahrozyan. “A panel consisting of academic staff from several universities was tasked to judge researches submitted as the RTA is keen on upholding impartiality principle. Moreover, all employees were offered the opportunity to take part in the Award without exceptions. The Judges Panel adopted several parameters in judging researches to ensure that the submission made are genuine (authentic), new and have the scientific research elements besides including advanced concepts as well as viable practical solutions,” he continued.

    “Fields covered by the Award included a host of topics related to human resources, management, specialist studies relating to roads, transport, infrastructure, engineering aspects, environment, and project management among others.

    “The RTA has allocated prizes for the Award winners where the first place winner got twenty thousand dirham & Certificate of Appreciation, the runner-up was presented with a cash prize of fifteen thousand dirham and a Certificate of Appreciation, and the third place getter was rewarded with ten thousand dirham along with a Certificate of Appreciation. Rewards were also granted to those who submitted researches in a bid to reward them and motivate others to take part in future rounds of the Award,” said Bahrozyan in a final remark.
