In Conjunction With Public Transport Day DEWA Employees Commute To Their Work By Public Transport
To encourage its employees to use public transport on the third anniversary of the Public Transport Day, organized by the Road and Transport Authority (RTA) under the theme ‘Be Healthy,’ to encourage all segments of society to minimize the use of their private vehicles and use different means of public transport available in Dubai, employees from Dubai Electricity and Water Authority used Dubai Metro to go to work today. This initiative aims to encourage Dubai residents and government employees to use public transport and promote the modern infrastructure provided by the RTA, including the Metro, buses and sea transportation.
“In line with the environmental strategy of the Emirate of Dubai, to preserve the environment and conserve our natural resources for a better future for generations to come, DEWA is seeking through this initiative to encourage its employees to use different means of mass transportation, including The Metro, buses and water transportation to disseminate a culture of public transportation, reduce traffic congestion and promote sustainable development,” said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of DEWA.
“DEWA has several programmes to encourage and recognize individuals and organizations to adhere to proper conduct and be good examples to follow in society. This will disseminate the importance of conserving natural resources through the wise use of public transport,” said Dr. Yousef Ebrahim Al Akraf, EVP-Business Support.
DEWA has instructed its employees to use the Metro and has accordingly closed employees’ parking areas in the main office and Al Hudaiba office. It has coordinated with the RTA to provide buses to pick up its employees to and from nearby metro stations.
After the inauguration of the Metro Green Line, DEWA encouraged its employees to use the Metro from the Dubai Healthcare station and briefed them about the potential advantages – most important of which is reducing harmful carbon emissions from car fumes.
