• RTA Tops Departments Of Dubai Government In Performance Improvement, Entities Delivering More Than 100 Services Categories

    The Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) has topped the ranking of Dubai Government departments & authorities in the Improved Government Departments Performance category, and also finished first in Category (A) for Government Departments delivering more than 100 electronic services, as per the results concluded to in the Electronic Services Report of the Dubai Government Departments 2011/2012 released by the Dubai eGovernment.

    H.E. Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of the RTA, was delighted with this achievement as it culminated the expeditious efforts of the RTA in improving & diversifying its electronic services offering to clientele.

    “The RTA finished first in the ranking of Dubai Government Departments in terms of Improved Performance by achieving 14% rating, and again came up first among entities delivering more than 100 electronic services scoring 86%. These results clearly stamp the improvement in the overall performance of the RTA testified by the remarkable 14 per cent rise when compared to the last assessment carried out in 2008/2009, and also won the distinction in the delivery of electronic services,” said Al Tayer.

    “The RTA has an on-going program for the improvement of e-services and last July it launched its revamped website packed with lots of features atop of which is the enhanced focus on users of the galaxy of e-services provided by various RTA sectors and agencies. RTA services have been classified into 4 groups depending on the type of user and extent of need for the service. The first group is for NOC permits and includes traffic services, traffic safety, roads, traffic signage, right-of-way and public utility services. The second group relates to transportation services and includes Nol cards, Dubai Metro, public buses and marine transit modes. The third group is designated to road user services and comprises driver licenses, vehicular services, Salik, and parking services. The fourth group is for business services and entails driving schools, commercial licensing plates, car rental, deluxe vehicles and commercial transportation.

    “The RTA has also finalized the provision of a wide-ranging databases offering simple explanation of how to process transactions along with a search engine. It also completed 80 per cent of RTA services classification based on the needs and usage of the public, and also uploaded a comprehensive standardized directory of RTA services on the main website fitted with a fast search feature for the required service, and the project is set for completion next October. The RTA has recently embarked on a project aimed to enable clients to use a single password for all e-services in all RTA portals comprising the main website, Nol Card Portal and the Toll Gates (Salik) Portal,” elaborated Al Tayer.

    “In the first quarter of this year, the RTA has launched a package of e-services to customers which includes: inquiry after the replacement of a driver license issued by other countries by a license issued from the RTA, inquiry about the status of a vehicle whether or not it needs a technical test for registration renewal using the plate number or chassis number, inquiry and payment of fines registered in the name of companies, and the inquiry and payment of fines using the traffic folder number, plate number, offence number or driver license number. Electronic services portfolio also includes inquiry about the balance of the unified Nol card, inquiry about the fare of the Dubai Metro by specifying the starting and terminal stations, inquiry about the selection of Nol card categories, and the inquiry about the amount of vehicular carbon emissions compared with the international standards in a bid to encourage the populace to contribute to the conservation of the environment. The RTA has also revamped some e-services which comprised in the initial stage the issuance and renewal of seasonal parking cards, and updating the Electronic Directory of RTA services. In the second stage the RTA updated franchise companies and deluxe transport services, whereas the third stage covered updating excess load permits for transportation companies, demolition & building permits for contractors, reserving parking slots for companies & restaurants, and the utilization of the right-of-way. The RTA has also recently gave a facelift to the Dubai Sustainable Transport Award website to be an integral part of RTA website in a process that included redesigning the website and revising bids submission service,” said Al Tayer in a concluding remark.
