• Al Tayer Explores Cooperation With Australian Consul In Dubai

    His Excellency Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of the Roads & Transport Authority (RTA), has recently received H.E. Gerard Seeber, Australian Consul General in Dubai, in the context of RTA efforts to foster cooperative relations at the local, regional and global levels. The meeting discussed ways & means of boosting mutual cooperation, and exchanging expertise between the RTA and Australian firms operating in the fields of rail, roads, transportation, and licensing of drivers & vehicles, besides reviewing the future road & infrastructure projects in Dubai.

    Al Tayer welcomed the Australian Consul General and hailed the excellent relationships linking the UAE and Australia, particularly in the economic & tourist aspects, resulting in an increase in the volume of trade exchange between the two countries, launch of several direct flights between the UAE and Australian cities, and a rise in the number of tourists visiting both countries.

    RTA Chairman of the Board and Executive Director briefed the Australian Consul on the key projects undertaken by the RTA to improve the infrastructure of road networks and various types of transit means such as the metro, water transport, buses, and taxis among others in order to accommodate the rising population numbers, increasing projects, and urban expansion.

    “We have already established good working relationships with Australian agencies & businesses operating in the field of licensing & registration of vehicles, testing, licensing and management of heavy plants, and conducting theoretical & practical training of drivers. Besides that we have also established relationships with Australian companies specialized in road safety and traffic safety systems. The RTA has benefited immensely from the Australian expertise and practices in operating marine transit means where different delegations from the RTA visited a host of Australian cities to familiarize with the Australian experiments and the best practices of marine transportation industry,” added Al Tayer.

    For his part, the Australian Consul General praised the sweeping development seen by the Emirate of Dubai completed in a record time, rendering it a focal point of investors, business leaders and tourists, thanks to the wise leadership and far-sighted vision of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. He also commended the mass transit projects carried out by the RTA highlighted by the Dubai Metro project; which offered multiple mobility options for residents in various parts of the city, besides easing the traffic congestion problems.
