Emirates Post Group Celebrates National Day With Cultural Activities, Musical Play
Emirates Post Group organised a number of activities to celebrate the 41st National Day, including a colourful cultural program at its Deira headquarters and release of commemorative stamps.
Mr. Sultan Midfa, CEO of Empost, who was officiating on behalf of the President of Emirates Post Group, unveiled a UAE flag made from post boxes. Mr. Midfa also planted a National Day tree in front of the entrance of the Deira Main Post Office, accompanied by other CEOs.
Among other activities were a Competition for Best Photography on National Day theme, Best Decorated Majlis at post offices across the UAE, and a Bazaar. The Best Decorated Majlis competition was won by Ras Al Khaimah main post office.
School children from Sa’ada Primary School, Deira, dressed in national colours, performed an operetta titled “In the Land of Zayed’. In addition, an Emirati folk group performed traditional music and dance as part of the celebrations.
Emirates Post also issued special commemorative stamps in one Dirham denomination (1 AED). The stamp features the official logo of the celebrations. In addition, seven distinctive souvenir sheets have been issued, along with a First Day cancellation stamp, which carries a quotation of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan (may God rest his soul) taken from the book ‘Wonderful Words from the Wise Man of Arabs --- Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan’, compiled and prepared by Abdullah Rashid Ahmed Al Murr Al Kaabi.
“The National Day is a great occasion to celebrate UAE’s unique achievements and its rising stature among the nations of the world, in keeping with the vision of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan (may God rest his soul), founder of the UAE, and their Highnesses Supreme Council Members and Rulers of the Emirates,” said Sultan Al Midfa.
