Results Of The TRA’s Comparative Household Survey Released Public ’More Satisfied’ With Telecommunications Services In 2012 According To TRA Research
The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) has released the results of its survey investigating the use of ICT in UAE households by comparing statistics from 2010 with 2012. The findings make for interesting reading as the use of mobile phones, multiple SIM cards, PCs, broadband and levels of customer satisfaction were all measured.
“The findings of this survey are enlightening. Committed to being responsive, the TRA actively measures the usage of household technology as a means of ensuring the best possible regulatory framework is in place to serve the nation. Throughout this project, the very latest international research methods were used in an effort to guarantee the credibility of our findings." H. E. Mohamed Nasser Al Ghanim, TRA Director General
The study adopted a holistic approach to measure the various technologies used in homes across the UAE and particular, how usage has changed over the past two years. As the number of people shifting to high speed broadband increases, the survey indicates that the public is more satisfied with telecommunications services in 2012. In addition, the number of people with multiple SIM cards has risen in 2012 and the proportion of individuals with a profile on a social networking site has also increased from 45% in 2010 to 69% in 2012.
In relation to customer satisfaction, the survey found that people are more satisfied with price of international calls from their mobile, national calls from mobile to mobile and the price of their internet service (fixed), than they were in 2010. However, while mobile internet subscriptions are rapidly increasing with people from different income classes subscribing, satisfaction on price of this service has decreased since 2010.
The TRA conducts the ‘Household Survey’ every other year with the latest report sourcing data from 2045 households and 2045 individuals. Tracking demand, usage, spending and satisfaction in relation to telecommunication services is critical for measuring performance and helps draw valuable international comparisons.
