UAE top among visitors from GCC to Korea
The number of Emirati tourists visiting Korea has witnessed an increase of 32.1% during the current year, making the UAE number one country in the GCC region followed by Saudi Arabia and Kuwait.
The Regional Director of Korean Tourism Organization (KTO) in Dubai, Seunghyun Hwang told Emirates News Agency (WAM), that several agreements have been signed recently between the UAE Ministry of health and Korean hospitals, and in light of those agreement 156 cases were successfully treated despite having been declared "incurable" by American and European hospitals.
Elaborating on the increase in the Emirati tourism activity in Korea, Hwang believed that this is due to several factors, mainly the positive feedback shared among GCC families that returned from Korea, as well as the ease of entry into the country since there is no visa restriction for GCC nationals to visit Korea.
The KTO director also pointed out increase in academic trips from GCC countries to Korea which includes "Schools and Universities interested in the Technological development, Future technologies as well as Nuclear power. " He extended invitation to the UAE citizens to travel during the coming spring and summer to enjoy the various tourism activities offered by Seoul that suit the Gulf and UAE taste as well as respect their family values and traditions.
In celebration of receiving the 10 millionth tourist to Korea towards the end of ’Visit Korea campaign 2010-2012’, the KTO yesterday organized a dinner at Dubai International Finance center, a number of Emirati and Korean officials from the tourism sector attended the event associated with the massive KTO Campaign "Visit Korea".
