Dubai Parents To Gain Pediatric & First Aid Skills As A Life-Saving Precaution For Children
Saudi German Hospital-Dubai marking World Children’s Day with public training session
Parents and the general public will be empowered with pediatric and First Aid skills which could potentially be life-saving for their children, at a training session to be held at Saudi German Hospital-Dubai. The event will take place on Saturday, 24th November, and has been organized by the hospital as part of its wider activities marking World Children’s Day.
Explaining the need to safeguard children’s health and safety, Dr Reem Osman, CEO of Saudi German Hospital-Dubai said: “Children have a very vulnerable immune system, which increases their risk of infections - including mild infections that adults can easily resist. In addition, children’s delicate bone texture and fragile muscles puts them at increased risk of fractures, dislocations and sprains. In the household, some of the most common accidents involving children include asphyxiation or suffocation, choking, or accidental poisoning. Rather than wait to treat children when they are rushed into our hospital, we are proactively preventing such mishaps by giving parents life-saving skills.”
The hospital has embarked on a series of bi-weekly training courses through its Pediatric Department. These courses are being held with the participation of its pediatric specialists, who have decades of experience in treating children around the world, helping them to recover from numerous child diseases and household accidents.
The upcoming event will have a celebratory theme, joining the world in celebrating World Children’s Day. Children will be treated to free gifts, face painting, bouncing castles, clown comedy and lots of other entertainment for the young as well as the young at heart. It is anticipated that this entertaining approach will change the way children view hospitals, and remove any lingering fear so that they adopt a healthy lifestyle from an early age. Schools and communities are also welcome to attend.
The event will feature inspiring testimonials from mothers, to make a positive difference in the lives of other families. However it will not only be limited to parents, as it will also benefit babysitters, nursery representatives and other guardians who oversee children’s well-being. The public lectures will feature demonstrations of the recommended steps to take in an emergency, and a simplified overview of the main threats to children’s health and safety.
Summarizing the strategy to save children’s lives, Dr Reem Osman, CEO of Saudi German Hospital-Dubai said: “Sometimes by the time a child is rushed to hospital, it might unfortunately be too late. Therefore our hospital has decided to help save young lives by sharing First Aid skills and general health enlightenment with the public. This ensures that parents are the first line of defense if any mishap occurs in the home, with the hospital playing a supporting role. We will not only focus on emergencies, but day-to-day health tips that will keep children in optimal health.”
