DIB Strengthens Its Strategic Partnership With Majid Bin Mohammed UAE Nationals Training Initiative As Part Of MoU
Second batch of 20 male UAE nationals join ’Emarati’ programme run by the bank
Dubai Islamic Bank today welcomed the second batch of its 2012 Emarati Programme in cooperation with Majid bin Mohammed UAE Nationals Training Initiative. 20 male UAE Nationals will now commence a six-month long customized training course to enhance their skills and knowledge of the banking industry.
This follows the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between DIB and the Private Office of His Highness Sheikh Majid Bin Mohamed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum. As per the MoU, DIB agreed to collaborate with the “Majid bin Mohammed UAE Nationals Training Initiative” by training 40 UAE National graduates to work in the UAE banking industry. Earlier this year and as part of the same initiative, 20 female UAE nationals began the same course at DIB.
The Majid Bin Mohammed UAE Nationals Training Initiative holds strategic partnerships with over 20 of the largest national and international corporations specialized in a variety of fields to provide young UAE nationals with the opportunity to launch their career paths and pave their way to a more promising future career.
Marwan Bin Beyat, General Manager of the Private Office of His Highness Sheikh Majid Bin Mohamed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, said: “The first edition of the Majid Bin Mohammed UAE Nationals Training Initiative saw the graduation of a large number of trainees in different fields, and we anticipate an even larger number within the coming few years as the Higher Committee of the Initiative takes diligent care in achieving its strategies to provide training opportunities for UAE nationals and introducing fresh graduates to national and international companies in different fields of work. Alongside providing training opportunities, the Majid Bin Mohammed UAE Nationals Training Initiative aims to develop and enhance trainees’ skills in the field they have chosen through workshops organized throughout the year for a seamless transition into the workforce, as well as to involve Emaratis in the organizing and planning of major events held in Dubai.”
Obaid Al Shamsi, Chief of Human Resources, DIB, added: “DIB is proud to help in achieving the objectives of the Majid bin Mohammed UAE Nationals Training Initiative in making a meaningful difference to the careers of young Emiratis. Together, we are helping talented nationals to reach their full potential and to thrive in the fast-growing Islamic finance industry. 40 participants have now started the ‘Emarati’ programme since we signed the MoU, but this is only the beginning and we look forward to working even more closely with the Initiative over the coming years.”
Established in 2004, the ‘Emarati’ programme begins with theoretical training at DIB’s Learning and Development Centre covering the principles of Islamic finance, Sharia-compliant products, bank policies and procedures as well as customer service. This year’s participants will then move on to four months of practical training in various departments of the bank, with a particular focus on close coaching and mentoring.
The ‘Emarati’ programme is a key component of DIB’s long-term strategy to meet its ambitious Emiratisation targets, and one of a number of initiatives run with the objective of attracting, training and retaining UAE National employees. The ‘Qiyadee’ leadership programme aims to identify and develop a core group of employees from within and outside the bank for managerial positions, while all UAE National staff are encouraged to pursue further education through the ‘Taalam’ programme. DIB also offers Emirati students a wide range of summer internship, work placement and sponsorship opportunities.
