• Sharjah Childrens Reading Festival To Organize First School Car Carnival

    The Sharjah Children's Reading Festival, a subsidiary of Sharjah Book Authority, SBA, has announced the organising of the first car parade "Carnival", which will oversee school cars and buses decorated by children portraying Sharjah's landmarks and monuments. The Carnival will be held during the festival’s 7th edition under the theme "Discover My City”, taking place from April 22 to May 2 at Expo Centre Sharjah.

    The car carnival will be organised in collaboration with the Sharjah Educational Zone to create an interactive channel of communication among school students to achieve the festival's goals of supporting the learning process and nurturing student's creativity, thus contributing to the development of children's personalities.

    The school cars and busses will take a daily tour of Al Majaz Waterfront during first two days of the festival. A judging panel will select the three most beautiful cars or buses, which will receive valuable cash prizes. The first winning school will receive a cash prize of AED20, 000, while the second one will receive AED15, 000, and the third prize is valued at AED10, 000.

    Hind Abdullah Lenaid, Senior Manager - Exhibitions and Festivals at Sharjah Book Authority (SBA), said, “Participation in the car carnival is open to Sharjah's public and private schools after obtaining approval from the Ministry of Education, or from the Sharjah Educational Zone. The Parade will oversee school cars and buses decorated with illustrations about Sharjah’s landmarks that portray the city's aesthetics through imaginary pictures reflecting children's innovation and the imagination."

    Lenaid pointed out that each school is entitled for one entry of a decorated car or bus, provided that the illustrations are created by outstanding students capable of creative expression, characterised by the spirit of innovation and competitiveness, each school will have a number that will be placed on the participating cars and buses.

    The Carnival will give schools the opportunity to compete in the areas of artistic creativity, which will help enhancinh collective work through the engagement of a group of children in creating innovative artworks under the supervision of one or more specialists. It also supports innovation and creative ideas, and provides a real motivating atmosphere among school students to know each other through great collective event.
